Jared DiCarlo 52
An amazing find courtesy of one of my new favorite channels on YouTube! Here’s a brief portion of local Glens Falls, NY cable station WNCE’s nightly newscast, featuring two future legends in Capital Region news; Lydia Kulbida (under her maiden name Lydia Zaluckyj) and Mark Mullholland, both of whom later ended up at WNYT together. Loving how sped up the format is at this point compared to the Brokaw & Walters years. Not too slow and not the ADHD level pacing of today. It also seems that they were frequently experimenting with sets. I've seen the blue version of this current set before but wasn't aware there was a brown variation as well. The sets from the late 70s up until the O.G. studio 1a (which was awesome) were all very well done. Steve Friedman the producer then sped up the pacing - also was there for the revolving sets while they tried to figure out how to beat GMA - he was there early 80s to 87. Probably got feedback his new blue set was too cold for the regular viewers, gave it the Earl Scheib treatment and made it brown. I think Magid was their consultant - and they went to that textbook "plain background to let the talent pop and become identifiable" look with the minimalist 1983-85 set. Then Bryant and Jane got their chemistry mojo after she came back from maternity leave in 84. NY skyline came back in early 85 with the new living room set, and they overtook GMA that year.

newsteam13 323
January 1995 at KWGN Denver...Channel 2 was independent NO MORE. At that time, KWGN signed up to become the affiliate of the then-new WB Network (now CW). The WB launched on January 11, 1995. On the same night following the WB programming, KWGN launched a brand new newscast that had it all: new theme music, new news set, a 15-minute sports segment, and the latest in weather technology. All this to reflect the WB launch.

PelicanGuy 117
In this video, we have then-WBRZ General Manager John Spain explain why his news crew aired a story the way they did on a man who gunned down Jeff Doucet, who kidnapped Jody Plauche, at Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport in 1984...the murder was caught on the station's camera and anchor Ed Buggs (RIP) was the reporter. The murder led the 10 pm newscast, which starts at 3:50. The man arrested was later identified as Jody's father, Gary Plauche. It does beg the question: how would THIS be covered today? A good video on ethics in journalism...for 1984. Edited September 28, 2021 by PelicanGuy Added more names.
RCA TK47 267
Some May 1987 KOVR 13 NEWS promos (8:55) with anchor Dan Gray supposedly explaining why he moved to California and KOVR's GM Ed Pfeiffer asking viewers for feedback on how to make the then ABC affiliate better station. I remember seeing these when KOVR originally aired them way back when 34 years ago and thinking to myself "This will never work". This look didn't last long at KOVR... Neither did Dan Gray. Although I think Gray was a pretty good catch for them though. I still think he and Jennifer Whitney might've been able to right the ship there at KOVR a little bit if they were given some more time. P.S. And a brief Rush Limbaugh cameo on the right @ 9:31. Edited September 29, 2021 by RCA TK47

WWUpdate 1242
During the 1994-5 affiliation switch in Phoenix, all of the four networks changed stations -- except NBC, which stayed on KPNX. Promos on KPNX emphasized the station's long-term connection to the network: The switch left KTVK without a network, KTVK became an independent and began to heavily promote its newly-forged relationship with CNN: Returning to KPNX, this promo features Willard Scott with Sean McLaughlin, then a meteorologist at KPNX, now an anchor at KPHO/KTVK:
