And speaking of KTVK, here's some newly uploaded material from 1990 -- the station's coverage of a record-breaking heatwave:

The original upload is no longer available, but with another blazing-hot-even-for-Arizona heatwave his week, I thought it might be a good time to post the updated URL:

The Chris Sloan archive gravy train keeps giving. There's even some rare KHJ from 1988! The 9:00 VO at the time would later do a lot of ABC Sports work in the late 80s and 90s. The 1:00 one was a

Thanks to Mr. Sloan, Christmas came early for me in terms of late 80s Houston content...   Some observations follow as well.   A weekend newscast & a midday newscast from KHOU

You are in for a special treat, because YouTube user 'VPR2B' has uploaded the KTXL NewsPlus music package from 1981.

KNTV 'Kids Report' 1990

At the opening of the San Jose kids museum they set up a  booth for kids to do a mock newscast. You get a sample of the Siilvertree 1987 opening theme at the beginning, and then the first part of the closing theme at the end. Always liked how they used a piano for the teletype effect in that theme - you hear it during the close.

You buried the lead... that’s “Streets Of...” heard on somewhere other than KYW!

Sounds a bit different than the cut KYW used for the open/close. Is this an updated version or a different cut from the original package?

Some KRBK updates from 1986 using The Image Leader, plus Christine Craft (she of age discrimination lawsuit fame), Pat Flanigan weather tease and Rich Gould sports tease (looks like Koplar transferred him to St. Louis in 1988):

Right at the beginning of this video, here's a cool mix of the CBS '85 "We've Got The Touch" campaign theme w/VTS' "The Place To Be" campaign for then-new CBS affiliate WRAL in Raleigh (now NBC):

Here's ANOTHER WRAL promo with the VTS Place to Be/CBS We've Got the Touch combo mix promo. Indeed, a kick ass combo for WRAL. Taking elements from the CBS 1985-86 promo, and incorporating them into VTS The Place to Be package. LOVE IT!

As you saw, WRAL wasn't the only station with a promo, which had a kick-ass combo mix of a news theme package (The Place to Be by VTS) with a network promo theme (CBS's 3rd and final season fo We've Got the Touch). Take a look at the promo for the Dallas NBC O&O station KXAS. It too had a combo mix of (a) Wall to Wall News by Stephen Arnold with (b) NBC's 1984-85 campaign Let's All Be There.
