Some WNYT coverage of the 2002 Olympics - plus a promo for its weather team of four meteorologists, and a glimpse at Kelly Lynch doing the weekend news in her second of three stints there. Fun fact: I listen to her and Chuck Custer every morning!

Some opens from KFMB:

Some of my ID compilations got reported by YouTube for being “repetitive content,” which I don’t believe in doing in the first place. If anything this could be the work of some internet troll subscribed to my channel. Anyways I’ll be uploading news open compilations on my temporary account until I’m allowed to upload on my actual one again.

OAD: 2/16/2002, confirmed by the Albany @ Boston University basketball score.

It's interesting to see how whole hog WNYT's graphics went for the 2002 Olympics. I know none of their packages since have gone into full Olympics mode for the entire Olympics. Their 2012-18 package did have special L3's solely for Olympics-relevant stories but had the regular L3's otherwise.

Also, the stilted way that they had to plug Rodger Wyland's radio show on WOFX to not mention the Fox Sports branding it carried on-air was always laughable.

This WRC 11pm show from February 12, 1991 features a different cut of their theme at the time. Sounds like they wanted a harder sound for the Gulf War:

What would be super-rare from this period was the 7:30 WRC produced for WFTY that ran only 10 months.

WXFL 1988

This was the resurgence of Channel 8 in the ratings. They would claim a victory over WTVT in 1989.

The team of Bob & Gayle proved to be very successful. The news director who paired them was also WTSP's news director in the Don Harrison era (hence the voiceover by Harrison at WXFL).

General Cinemas owned them back then.

Here's a WBTV newscast from August of 1995, with their EQ Vance look:

One of Vance’s notable GFX packages that aren’t mentioned on the website. Any others?

Sticking to Charlotte, WCNC managed to poach John Snyder of KWTV/KSNW into its sea of anchors from other markets:

They definitely wanted a...simpler look compared to the wild 1994 package they had [08:53].

There's a partial WCAX newscast from 1991 along with the CBS Evening News for November 6:

The WCAX newscast is also from November 6, confirmed by the highlights of Celtics @ Heat from the night before.

A long closer for Canal 9's noon news from January 1996, anchored by Cristina Pérez (before moving to Telefe) and Guillermo Andino (before joining América 2).

The guy who composed the theme (Luis Reales) was listed in the credits!

From the same time (1995/1996), two promos of the newscast, shot on film:
