Earliest KTSF newscast.

As long as we're down that path, here's the image music the theme is based on (dates to the late 80s)

And a longer version of the news open - one of the underrated themes in Norcal from the 80s (this one, KNTV, KCRA among them)

Plus, here's a KICU ID that's basically the KPRC 80s news open almost in the clear - from 1988

Next up from bigO playbax- a KETV Newswatch 7 promo (with News People)! Anchors include KTXL's Ted Mullins, WTLV's Marcia Ladendorff, Charlie Martin (Levy) of TWC doing weather, and Boise's Wayne Dzubak on sports.

Wow...

Did ya see the old internet machine* that reporter was poking at his desk? It was next to the white object that looked like a hair dryer with numbers on the little wheel*.

And did ya see that map on the wall? They say people used to "read" those maps and go places.

*Typewriter made letters on paper

*Dial Telephone...too complicated to explain tom you kids

An audio clip of the news image from WCKT (WSVN)

Speaking of which, here's WTTG using the beginning of the News Image close to introduce it's Metromedia Moive Club back in 1985:

Also the beginning of the video is the intro to the WBFF movie from that same day, introduced on-screen by some old guy who may or may not have been a friend of Nixon or Reagan!

Here's a 1983 WTVH newsbreak with an unknown theme. Their graphics look like the same ones from the 1970s, hence the old "5" logo (Meredith made the "5"s less round by the early 80s) and what looks like Dolphin Productions graphics.

Easy, that's the tail end of Production Music: Industrial Power, better known as the theme of Independent Network News from 1980-1984.

Been waiting for digitaldave to post this again... I saw it a few years ago but it was taken off of Youtube.

WAVY's "5:30 First News" open from 1992. My guess is that this came out in 1989 when the 5:30 newscast debuted. Certainly channels what then-sister station KXAS did with the "Night Team" opens... music intertitled in between the story teases.

FINALLY! I've only seen that logo once before — a one-second billboard shot in KCNC's The Big Switch special. (No, seriously!) It was ditched when KNXV became the full ABC affiliate just months later.

Apparently the GMA promo is not alluding to KTVK airing GMA out of pattern. For whatever reason, KNXV began airing the show on an hour delay when it was picked up in late August and was only able to clear it in pattern by the time this aired.
