Tried to get these up; but couldn't after the site was down.

April 3, 1989 WTKR News 3 Tease (Gene Kapp; late newscast after NCAA Basketball Championship)

April 3, 1989 CBS Evening News Close (similar to previous upload accounts; but I decided to include the remnants of the final story I did have this time)

KCOP 10pm, July 1987. They'd just introduced a new look, one that shared open graphics elements with Australia's Seven Nightly News:

(watch this channel — this guy has Joplin, MO stuff that he hasn't posted yet. Some of it is sorely missed, too!)

He's got an old KGO 1987 newscast up there too

That closing is a piece of work.

And more Bay Area clips from a former KRON photographer's account

6pm open 1982

Live at 5 open 1984

Live at 5 close 1984

Note the irony of a 'portions pre-recorded' disclosure at the end of a 'Live' at 5 newscast...

You might forget that South Bend even got tripped up in the affiliation switch. WNDU, 5pm and 6pm, 1995. Slick look! Also explains that when WBND started, it was using both channels 58 and 69.

We even have some video of WBND's first day, carrying ABC's overnight programs:

Can't believe this was ten months after Weigel dealt with an unfamilar affiliation switch in Chicago. Nice to see the now late longtime owner of Weigel Broadcasting Howard Shapiro on the vid.

This was a 50th anniversary special produced by KOAM in 2003.

At least two NMSA entries were generated from this:

-In the early 1980s, as "News 7", the station used a Network Music production piece, "Eyewitness News" (which I recognized from an old WOKR promo—no, really!).

-Later on in the 1980s (probably around 1986?), the station used News '88.

-There's a third theme included...but only for two seconds. The station used the Action 7 News branding at some point.

There are a lot of things wrong in Wikipedia and the NMSA for KOAM and Joplin in general. The NMSA should be rewriting its Joplin history, which is bad in general.

Segment about the affiliation switches: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1M71pKOX1fY (I wonder what the real motive to making that switch was... The reference to "

" comes from their IDs in the run-up to the switch)

Maybe because of a better signal, so the Michiana folks can see the Bears Games.

Not only Weigel acquired ABC from WSJV but they'd acquired the CBS from WITI in Milwaukee, also ten months prior (12/11/94). So Weigel dealt with three affiliation switches. They lost Univision in Chicago to WGBO (12/31/94), and gained ABC & CBS in South Bend & Milwaukee, respectively. All within a year.

KSNF 10pm, May 25, 1992:

(A block missing but it has a close)

Interesting to see how KSNF was branding at this time. In 1990, SJL Communications bought the Kansas State Network and cut costs by severing the microwave link between Wichita and Topeka and Joplin. While their Wichita (and Topeka) outlets had rolled out new logos in 1986 and slick Television by Design graphics in 1988, their Joplin station was using a modestly updated version of the network's mid-80s branding, complete with old "KSN" logo and that yellow-orange-blue stripe pattern.

is there anymore of KSNT with the new logos from 1986 with the same graphics from KSNW-TV?

The only KSNT video footage from the 1980s we have is from the Television by Design era (it's in the same NewsActive3 reel as that WIBW stuff from the late 80s). By 1993, they were retaining their 1986 logo but had broken off with their own presentation and music.

I have tapes from that era as well from WIBW, KSNT and an short clip from KTKA on one from the late 80's and also, I think WIBW-TV 13 used the talents name and (Making a Difference Slogan) on 13 Sports and or News.

All I can remember from 1989 was the weekend open for when KSNT was known as the Kansas State Network Topeka and used KSN news. However, on a different note, I would like to figure out WIBW's news theme and the composer who written the piece in those days.

Just saw that... I have a bit of the Today show from KSNF during the 1988 Olympics and it appears there may have been no change in branding up until some point in the 90s. They had the same logo/color scheme & were using "All The News" in said clip. Even then it looked dated in comparison to KSNW & the rest of the network.

A note - TVbd's influence on KSN actually began at some point in 1987. I have a few tapes from then, and I think they may have used an interim, 'older' (relatively-speaking) graphics package from that firm, before the one that appears on NewsActive3's reel. They also introduced Gari's 'Great News' at this time as well. A February '89 tape I have with material recorded from KSNC, the station in Great Bend, shows that even they picked up the updated look by that point. KSN definitely stayed with them for a while - they updated the graphics for the network in the mid 90's and also did the graphics for the short-lived newscast they produced for KSAS, the FOX station, in the late 90s.

They also had a Turn To re-sing as "Your TV Friend, KSN" (at least the end part), so I had some idea that was coming. That's not on YT again yet.

That makes me question the KODE entry for a "Your TV Friend" package by Gari. Did that ever exist for KODE?
