And I decided to put this 1990 ABC College Football Intro (with one of Brent Musberger's first assignment after being thrown out by CBS) up to test what happens.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpG7Ytq9P90

It was pretty good, I thought. I only sampled it up to the part where the actual titles occurred, but I have to say that I actually liked this 1990 opening. I don't think that Brent lost any of his verve. The best part was where the animated football formed and was then kicked towards the title, lighting it up and creating the title card.

Unfortunately, considering what the NFL did to "mrwrestlingtape1" (that person had to take down all those old NFL clips, no thanks to Roger Goodell of the "No Fun League"), the bigwigs that run "ESPN on ABC" will probably find a way to take this clip down. It virtually never fails.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Yep, it happened (if you're referring to "mrwrestlingtape1," which I believe you are). What I don't understand is what the NFL has against its past. Whatever it is, it isn't good. I'm surprised that the NBA has not chased off all those clips of when CBS had it. There are tons of CBS NBA clips around YouTube, and virtually no one at the NBA has said anything of them. Why does the NBA seem to care about its past while the NFL doesn't? It's a mystery to me.

I've got some new (okay, mostly reruns) up, but I need to mention that I've had to delete the Super Bowl XXIII and XXVI closes due to the fact that the sound was yanked as a result of the Warner Music Group/YouTube feud.

CBS Sports Super Bowl XXI (New York/Denver) (from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA) pregame and game openings:

Pregame: (uses "The NFL Today" titles, but is called "The Super Bowl Today")

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-gBXH1QaGE

Game: (uses what would be CBS Sports' new college football theme)

Niiiiiiiiiice! Great job WPVI!

Also important - they put up two very very old promos featuring some of the rare promo cuts of MCTYW. One has the vocal theme, which is announced as "the family of friends singing for Action News".

The open has to be no later than 1977 (they mention Larry Kane)... and I think it's VERY possible that everything - certainly the promos at least - dates from when the theme was first used in 1972.
