This CBS NFL clip from '85 has the opening of a game between Atlanta and Chicago from Soldier Field. Not only does it have that, but it also has a gamebreak with Brent Musburger that details the big hit laid on Detroit QB Eric Hipple. You'll never believe how brutal this hit is-- that defender just laid him out.

Now if I could find the clip where Joe Ferguson got plastered by Wilber Marshall.

I'll try to get more stuff up today.

I actually thought to look for that for you, but couldn't find it under either of those two names.

Here's something else I think you'll like though:

This is the opening from "The NFL Today" from the 1982 NFC Final, 1/22/83, between Dallas and Washington from RFK Stadium.

1979 "NFL Today" scores and highlights. This is before the days of fancy computer graphics for halftime reports (and I believe that this is a halftime report). The scores are shown full-screen, but instead of fancy computer graphics between score reports, as Brent announces the scores, the camera simply pans to each display. The individual gameboards, it seems, were also operated mechanically. One other thing-- this is (I believe) when NFL halftime shows were not sponsored by anybody. In other words, this is way before the days of Visa, Dockers, NASDAQ-AMEX, and Sprint. The studio was also called "CBS Sports Control." You'll also see Jayne Kennedy in this clip on the left, and here, Irv Cross and Jimmy "The Greek" are seated to the right (all those placements are from our view, the way that you would have seen it on television).
