Part of a WFLA newscast from 1976 (!) with anchor and news director Joe Mannion, Paul Catoe with weather, and Milt Spencer on sports. The closing theme is from the NBC Background Library. No open was included.

This may be the only news open from Ted Turner's WRET in Charlotte that's available online. The station only began producing news in 1978, when the former independent became an NBC affiliate. The following year, Turner sold WRET to Group W, a transaction that financed the 1980 launch of CNN, and WRET changed its call letters to WPCQ.

And speaking of Turner, here's a 1996 promo for the just-launched CNNfn, intended to compete with CNBC. The channel shut down in 2004.

And from the same year, a promo for the flagship CNN channel:

A big dump of new videos this week...starting with this gem. This is a brief clip of BIZNET News, a business newscast that may have been the predecessor to First Business. USA Network aired this at 5 or 6am weekday mornings in the mid-1980s.

KAPP/KVEW Weekend Report, 9/21/1991, with Kerry Tomlinson (taped from KVEW)

KIMA NewsBeat at Noon at the end of this commercial compilation from 10/12/1994...KIMA aired a 5-min. local newsbrief before joining CNN Headline News.

KREM 2 News, 5/8/1993, with Steve Becker

and finally...I promised...Missoula newscasts!! KPAX 10:00 News, 9/13/1997, Jennifer John is the anchor

and a partial 12/2/95 newscast from KPAX with Shane Edinger, before he moved to central Washington (and KNDO/KNDU)

A 2001 newscast from Pax station WVPX in Akron; this is how Wikipedia explains the station's news arrangement at the time (note that either the date in the clip title or the Wikipedia timeline is a bit off):

Quote

WKYC subsequently announced on March 28, 2001, the launch of a new newscast produced for WVPX by WKYC's news department but focused on Akron stories, and based at an expanded Akron bureau.[205] Launched on July 13, 2001, under the Pax 23 News banner,[204] the program was anchored by WKYC's Akron bureau chief Eric Mansfield, with sports and weather provided by Jim Donovan and Mark Nolan, respectively; both Mansfield and Nolan previously worked at WAKC in the early 1990s.[63]

Various national news clips from the PEPCON rocket fuel explosion in Henderson NV, which killed two and injured hundreds, on May 4th and May 5th, 1988

Also, KCYU/KFFX simulcast NWCN at 10PM for a few years, here's one of those. 5/16/2003, with Greg Copeland and meteorologist Mark Coleman.
