I love old school newscasts, promos, theme music, as the next homie.

You bet-- not only do I enjoy that, but I like the same thing when it comes to print; I have a growing collection of old-school newspapers from when I was a boy (and at least one from before that); papers these days, just like television news, are not what they used to be.

An ultra rare KFMB newscast from April 25, 1967, back when they still branded their news as "This Day 196X". There's lots of switching back and forth between color and black & white, mainly during commercials and field reports:

Was coming to post a link to a recently posted 1980 newscast from WTVD (main story being the U.S. boycott of the Moscow Olympics) when I saw the posts about Sloan's TV Archive being nuked by YouTube. Some had mentioned the Internet Archive as an alternative, and I may do more dedicated work there (have been active there mostly as a backup)

Speaking of the 1980 newscast, something I've wondered about both this and the May 1983 newscast that has been on YouTube for some time now is whether the set used for those newscasts was a remade version of the set WTVD had used before it was damaged by fire in March 1979.

Have another mystery theme to share that someone may be able to identity a composer or company for. It's not on the NMSA site as of now, but it was used by WTOG 44 in Tampa from (late 80s? or early 90's?) thru 1993. It was also used on WAKA Channel 8 Montgomery from (late 80s? or early 90's?) through defintely 1993 for sure. I know that from visiting someone who worked at the station. I heard the music in question when they were showing me some opens and bump animations, but have no idea where it came from. It was around 7 cuts on the ONLY master they had of it, a videotape! It included an open, close (which is used in the teaser below) and 2 to 3 odd-length bumpers, around :07 to :25 seconds, which featured a lighter bump and rhythm with keys.

WTOG was having some audio issues the night the newscast was recorded... like a missing anchor mic on tease, glitches and levels everywhere. Good thing is that it gave an opportunity for a quick music only piece.

After 7 years...finally, some WAKA with the WTOG '93 theme!

Glad to see that I'm not the only crazy person out there!

If YouTube starts giving you trouble, you may consider what I did - a Vimeo (or other hosting provider) account.  I pay for the "Plus" account, which lets me upload 5GB/week - I paid about $60 for the year with an on-line coupon at the time.  5 GB/week covers 12-13 newscasts, which I convert to mp4 and sit at about 400MB for a 30 minute program - it's a good balance of compression and quality.  From there I usually post 10 newscasts/week (and am building up a reserve for when I'm out of town and can't upload...).  The best part is if someone complains, I just take the offending video private - I can still share with folks (via a password), but it's not "out in the wild"...

Are you the same VHSgoodiesWA that posted, on your YouTube channel, clips from the "Jenny Jones Show" from the early years of the program (c. 1992-93)?? Granted, I was never a fan of the show, but it was pretty surreal to see the show at its humble beginnings (e.g., the small set and small audience) compared to what it would later become (e.g. the set larger & the audience larger and rowdier)....

As for the topics and guests themselves, I did see one episode you posted, and let's just say it was really cringe-inducing (although it was more Jenny's line of questioning her guests on this topic that was the major issue)......
