Of what affiliation was KDUH at the time of this noon edition in '84?

I believe it was NBC Primary  at that time, based on both the news theme (which included the NBC sonic logo in it), as well as NBC programming (Tonight Show) - but I think this timeframe was close to the network switch, as there weren’t any network identifying promotions, but just generic slides for the network programs, and the Open didn’t include the earlier video with the shots including the Proud N logo

KOTA and KDUH switched affiliations to ABC in the middle of 1984. That noon open is the only one from KDUH that doesn't show a network logo.

This is the only one of the opens we have for KDUH post-switch:

The NMSA has a long-running and really understandable mix-up between two news music packages... It needs its own thread.

WYMT Close 1993.

This is what happened at the end of the newscast on WYMT's second set. Getting ready for a new set.  The female anchor was carried off the set and staff started to cut the background out.

1998: KCOY anchor Don Strickland apparently had some problems with the stories not being cued up:

(By the way...Strickland was lead anchor and news director at ABC Alaska in spring 1996; unfortunately, he failed to make any dent in the ratings against KTVA and of course the 800-pound gorilla that was (and still is) KTUU and by the fall, he was back in California)

In honor of KNBC weatherman Fritz Coleman re: his retirement, here is a promo for KNBC "News 4 L.A." c. mid-80s (Coleman is the man with the glasses winking at the camera at the 20-second mark, holding an umbrella, no less): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLJDv_y-30Y

WPVI 50 Years of Action News

KVUE News 24 1975. Using the theme from Clockwork orange.

That makes KVUE the third station (that we know of) to use music from A Clockwork Orange as theme music for their newscasts (WVUE in New Orleans and WXIA in Atlanta are the others).

Oddly enough, both KVUE, WVUE, and WXIA were ABC stations back in the mid-70s; the latter two have since switched to other networks, while KVUE remains with ABC......
