A couple of Macon, GA goodies are forthcoming.

First, we feature a partial broadcast of WGXA's "News 24 Late Report" anchored by Ron Wildman and Gayle Jessup. And we finally have a WGXA open where they used "The Spirit of Texas" by TM Productions.

And second, get ready for a complete WMAZ newscast from 1990. This newscast features a nice opening along with WMAZ legend Tina Hicks who anchors this newscast.

I have a special treat for all of you this evening, because I have a *VERY RARE* look at KRDO from 1980 in the form of a news montage. KRDO's logo looks something like what WVEC in Norfolk used at the time. Please watch, because it has a ID and news open included at the beginning along with a news set that has been used at KATV in Little Rock and other stations.

Oh wait...here is KRDO two years earlier in 1978. Yes, KRDO used the ABC News Theme by Score Productions to open its newscast.

Is your life missing TWO FULL HOURS of KDBC from 1989? I've got just the thing for you! And it comes with two newscasts!

"Live at 5" newscast begins at :54 and features an unknown theme. The 6pm open is at 59:25 and has *another theme*. And neither of them are what they used in 1990!

The 5pm close uses VTS's That's the Spirit (commissioned by WYFF). There are Spirit of El Paso IDs throughout. This is the first time I've seen KDBC with that image, first time I've seen it on a newscast, and just the third station I know to have used it (KTVL).

Corrected information about the way the pack was named at the time. It's "That's the Spirit", not "Spirit of America"

Not trying to get @Ramona even more hyped up, but I think this theme would sound even better with Charlie Van Dyke’s booming voice (WYFF). That music actually does sound like a snippet I heard on a WYFF newscast snippet from 1987 on YT (which I can’t find).

A real gold mine! Dave Johnson has uploaded several newscasts from his time as anchor at KZTV in Corpus Christi during the early/mid 1990s:

After KZTV, Dave was 5pm anchor for KGBT, heres a newscast from September 19, 1997 (which followed Jeopardy's 3000th episode, fun fact, NONE of the RGV's TV stations carried Wheel of Fortune back then, not even newsless KVEO!)

And the intro to that nights CBS Evening News, as well as the 10pm newscast:

I've read old newspaper articles about it.

Pretty much 3rd place except for a brief year or so around 1985, another blip around 1988, and then became a real #1/#2 in the market around 1995 when NBC went on a streak, they cleaned up the presentation, and Pete Wilson / Pam Moore were the leads.

A full KXAN 10pm newscast from March 15, 1990, as taken from the 1am rebroadcast. Unfortunately, the sign-off wasn't on the tape, the recording cut off during a community affairs segment called COPS (how long do you think that tiltle lasted for before getting sued by the show?)

KXAN’s C.O.P.S. program preceded the Fox show by several years - airing in the 1am hour, there was no confusion between the two...

2001: A portion of a WTVJ-produced WSFL (nee WBZL) newscast that used the late 90s - early '00s WB look as its graphics.

Never saw those graphics before, and Willard and Jackie are in the newsroom rather being at the NBC 6 set with the WB39 backgrounds
