Here’s a treat. WTVF circa 1977. Equipment bloopers. A very Scrippsy set decades before they’d actually own this station. There’s Chris Clark, of course; and, is that Dave Kaylor in Music City?!

Yes, that is Dave Kaylor. One of his co-anchors was Oprah in Nashville.

So tantalizingly close to a KUTV mid-80s open but, alas, not yet... There is a KSL one and a KUTV segment with 5 seconds of a bumper theme.

This clip has even less news presentation material, but there are some excerpts from KUTV's short-lived First News early evening newscast and tosses to Randall Carlisle in the KUTV newsroom:

KSL meanwhile is using News 88 a LOT earlier than I thought. Maybe they were the commissioners?

Copyright Office entries show a 1984 creation date. I'm not sure who originated the original package, though KGTV (which used the v1) did commission a v2 update with its TVbD graphics.

Henry, thanks for sharing these rare clips. I love the KPOM clips, because it features a rare look at “24 Express News” during the 1980s. Elizabeth Alex would later anchor in Kansas City. And it features a rare look at “NewsCenter NightBeat” with anchor Jerry Overton.

This WTVD break from 1984 shows a combination of the then-new italicized “11” logo (with Welch graphics and KING theme) and the non-italicized “11 Together” logo. Little did they know Cap Cities was a year shy of getting sucked up by ABC...

As previously posted on the Marion Stokes documentary thread in the tape room, here is some of what's been digitized already:

A full KXAN 10pm newscast from March 15, 1990, as taken from the 1am rebroadcast. Unfortunately, the sign-off wasn't on the tape, the recording cut off during a community affairs segment called COPS (how long do you think that tiltle lasted for before getting sued by the show?):
