Here's a doozy from 1960:

And, with the original audio removed, a KTVY/WKY (not sure of the year) open from the 70s. The open animation seems to have a little bit of influence from the 70s NFL on NBC open:

There's also *another* open, from the late 70s with full sound:

Weeeeeeeeee!!! WAVY-TV pulled in more videos from their archives!

The first one was dated on December 16, 1980:

The second one came from June 10, 1981:

The third one was recorded on November 12, 1981

Just saw that on my subscriptions and was on my way to post (remembered seeing the first one briefly on WAVY's site when they were celebrating their 50th anniversary).

Looks like WAVY began using "The Daily News" as their branding much earlier than previously thought (since the upload is directly from the station, I'm confident in saying the dates are correct).

Here's a nice treat for the Tampa Bay area folks and Marquette, MI too.

WLUC Sue Zelenko Weather Forecast (1979). Yes, this is the Sue Zelenko that later went to WTSP.

She ended up with WTSP for like 22 or 24 years, something like that right?

It was 1981. Several years back around 2007, someone said "The Daily News" began in 1982 on Wikipedia, and the false info even made it into the 50th anniversary special.

KMST in January 1993! A year before becoming KCCN, KMST's (probable) last look as channel 46 used the CBS affiliate graphics and music of the period:

And in the early 90s, as some of these station promos attest, they went early prime:

On a more somber note, June 16 marked the 30th anniversary of a fatal chopper incident in Jacksonville which killed two people who were in WTLV's helicopter and injured a third.

This WJXT clip analyzes the problems of Hughes 500C-model aircraft, including the problem with a tail rotor that caused the WTLV bird to crash. The package includes footage of a camera shot from the chopper as it began to spin. The Army and Border Patrol had just discontinued a similar model aircraft for the same issue. Furthermore, the tail rotor problem had caused a fatal crash of WFMY's aircraft the previous year - which is also shown on video.

Once upon a time, television networks had actual networking equipment - things like AT&T long lines. What happens when there's "Trouble on the Network"? In this case, the actual network broke down?

Well...

The same channel has another gem, from KBSC's bizarre On-TV/Spanish days: potentially the oldest Spanish-language newscast from the US on YT, "Primera Edición" from May 1, 1982:

Earlier this year,

, as well as other material, that had formerly been owned by the station's chief engineer and wound up on eBay.

There are 21 minutes of raw footage from these "lost reels" (no audio). They show a variety of KOAM's local program output, cooking shows, kids' programs and behind-the-scenes items.

If only we could get fuller clips of some of those 80s and 90s opens from KOAM...you know, beyond the 1.7-second Get to Know Us sample.

Sounds like someone heard my call for more KOAM...and gave us an unexpected gift!

This 1994 open features Working for You, just the third station ever to have this package.

Bits and pieces of KSNF from June 1994. They hadn't changed much since 1992:
