KCRA near-full newscast, 1990: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T56LsiEuMrs

As to the KGAN open, given that it was 1993 that looks completely modified. That open animation would probably date to 1988/89. It was used by KMPH and KOTA (which of course held onto it throughout the 90s).

Nice to see more KCRA holes filled. Looks like they kept elements of the 1984 package for bumpers, and just refreshed the open. This look lasted until about 1992.

Here's the open and part of a KCRA newscast from 1993

And that WJBK set looks like a sibling of the KTVU set of that era.

The still is laughable: that screen is so tacky with the "bug" being painted on the chroma screen. I guess they were too cheap to allow the CG to place a digital bug on that screen instead.

I actually think it's cool. More elaborate production to do the chroma on-set with a special shot than just a bug and graphic talking head window.

WTOV promo, 1985...I feel like I've heard this theme before. Tuesday9?

Well, NMSA says this is Tuesday9, and we all assumed it was too (I can't remember if I was the reason it got merged into Tuesday9 in the first place), but this music (the package also used on KSDK/WHO/WBBH/WTVO) could actually be Telesound. It shows up on the John Chancellor promo on their demo. I know Telesound advertised an NBC affiliate package. If it was indeed Telesound, I am thinking that Tuesday9, the WESH package, was "inspired by" this Telesound package.

Right, I remember you saying that to me, I just wasn't sure if I could say that yet. ;)

Anybody catch the few frames of Rolland Smith after the "This is CBS" slide on the KNOE clip?

Someone in NY didn't fully fade to black before WCBS started their news. I remember as a kid a couple of times when someone at KHOU was asleep at Master Control, and let a WCBS news break start during the 9:30pm CT local opt out, as well as an occasional WCBS/2 ID through. This usually happened on a Saturday or Sunday night - when the folks working weren't the station's "A-team".

KFMB "Say Hello" promo, 1985:

Most of the material on the channel is sports, and for news it's mostly KFMB. Wow, that "tumbling News Eight" logo (which appears to be a model) lasted a while: 1983/4-88, possibly as far as 1990.

1991 is when the changeover happened to the next 8 logo that lasted to 2005.

Actually it occurred by late in '90. There's a KFMB noon open in this Internet Archive clip from December 11, 1990. We also have a 5pm open with a slightly different animation from this era. There's a bump from break with a bit of another cut of the KFMB 1990/92 Silvertree theme in there as well.

On the other hand, there's a non-NMSA theme for KFMB from 1992 that (I think you said) immediately followed the Silvertree theme.

This theme is one of the few I assume Silvertree creation for because all four of its credited stations were listed in Silvertree's client list. Same for WDAF 1987.

Ah yes! I always remembered it being from Early 91. But not late 90. Probably changed over in time for the November sweeps that year. And yes, i was the one that mentioned about the unknown 92 theme. I'd have to say btw, that lasted about 18 months or less before NS2k+ showed up on scene.

Clips from a WFLA 1976 newscast on this channel. There is no open, but the close is included here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aIfHmQEEio/

I did not know what to think of that video of the Indy 500 that Milt Spencer presented. Was it about racing or softcore porn?!! Haha! That same person also uploaded 90% of that newscast later on in cellcam-o-vision.

Also again we hear the NBC News Tabloid production music which makes you wonder if they used Part of Your Life as only an Image Campaign and not a news theme like they did with Turn To during the Power News era in the late 80s-early 90s.

He also uploaded a set of 1983 Joe Mannion editorials

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkUx0Gcfp_c

That's 3 different graphic variations of the editorial intro on YouTube during "The Spirit of Tampa Bay" era.

1982- Red, Green, and Blue pre-call letter change "Figure" 8 logo

1983- Flipping gold version of the "Figure" 8

1985- Gold "Figure" 8 with Blue background. It looks like that editorial video montage overlapped the beginning of the Power News era in Fall 1985 in one of the editorials showing Steve Andrews.

'Ol Joe sure hit the nail on the head about the stadium location.
