WNBC and WABC HD Playback of local shows?

Anyone have an update if or when WNBC and WABC will playback the programs recorded from their news studios in HD?

 

For example, since a few weeks after NewsChannel 4 went HD the movie review show "Reel Talk" has been recorded in 16:9, as it's now shown letter boxed on the non-hd feed:

 

But WNBC-DT, the HD channel, it's still not shown in 16:9. It's an up convert of the 4:3 feed so it's letterboxed top and bottom and pillarboxed on the sides:

 

I was thinking by now WNBC and possibly WABC would be able to record and playback studio shows in HD.
