They are making the broadcast look more serious and traditional. I guess the 2006 graphics were too 'tart'.

I commend CBS for the effort, but I still don't like Katie Couric.

I like Katie Couric but I don't commend the effort. Terrible graphics! Why they moved back to a depressing, dark scheme is beyond me.

CBS needs to either find someone else to do their packaging or outsource. The last couple of efforts have been shameful. Bouncing, flat globes in the Morning News open, the terrible effort on the first-gen Couric-era Early Show open, and the overall randomness in the choice of fonts has me wondering how Bob Peterson has stayed employed. And speaking of fonts, what is with the System-esque computer terminal font at the beginning of the open? There is too much design for design's sake, if you know what I mean.

The new look is a step in the right direction in that it's cleaner, but it is far from professional. I think HulkieD was the first to say that it "smacks of Invigorator"; whether it's VizRT or not, the 3D implementation is amateurish.

I will probably continue to watch because, as I said, I like Katie Couric. But if CBS wants to attract and keep viewers they need to step things up. They need to differentiate themselves from the other newscasts in content and creative production. And as far as the Early Show, another graphics refresh would do more harm than good.

I love the spinny 3D globe bug.
And that's the only thing I like about it.

While I wasn't that big a fan of the previous package, I much rather preferred it compared to this. It's a big letdown, as far as network graphic standards go.
