CNNI new graphics

CNN International has launched new graphics at 7pm EST / 0000 GMT.

The graphics are very similar to CNN US graphics, but instead of a world map on a black background, it's a globe on a white background, with a programme logo next door.

That's the only real difference, otherwise, it's exactly the same, or appears to be.

I cannot provide caps though, have no facility currently.

Still in the temporary studios though.

I took these snapshots from CNN.com Live so that's why they're stretched.

Interesting how both networks have the same graphics, except for CNN I's white box behind the bug instead of the black.

I'm still not a fan of this look. The huge show logo/topic title thing next to the bug is annoying and undoes any attempt to be "minimalist" or "clean."

I wonder if they're going to adjust some of the other graphics such as opening animations, full screens and weather titles. They all still use the rectangles whereas CNN I is now using the rectangles with rounded edges in the lower-thirds.

I like the spirit of cohesion this brings between the international and U.S. versions of CNN, but I have to agree... the whole show title thing in the bug is a little weird. It looks as if the bug was designed as a complete afterthought, just inverting the colors from the U.S. version and going with it. It's also strange that they decided to move the bug to the lower right, given that while the standard bug placement for channels here in the U.S. is the lower right, channels in other countries usually place it in the upper left or right. Sortof bucking the trend...
