Why not just let her anchor alone? What is wrong with that?

Nada. But sometimes, depending on personality, it's good to have another person there. I would love to see Ukee Washington paired with her. He really deserves a top spot and has been extremely versatile and I believe flourish in this role.

ABC's World News Now stated the news earlier this morning during the Morning Papers segment, yet they didn't mention the anchors by name. But this will be very interesting to see the outcome of all of this in the coming days.

The story was also on FOX News Channel intermittently throughout the day.

The more this gets broadcast nationally, the less a chance Larry has to survive this with his job.

Boy, Here we go with the 24 hour cycle!!!

I guess FOX News didn't have much shocking news today. So they picked that to talk about all day. I'm shocked they didn't do this a few days ago, when it first broke out. Nothing get's worst than when local stories get national attention at a snap of the fingers.

"Dark Theory of Alycia E-Mail," huh? Certainly is dark, considering all the details in the article. I love the quote at the end: "She (Dawn Stensland) is an older version of Alycia, which I find a little freaky." Can you imagine what kind of a field day the press would have if Larry is convicted? Hopefully, it won't come to that.

That is such a shame. I never would've expected that from a well known anchor like him... He will likely get dismissed, or at least I wouldn't be suprised if he does. I would be suprised if they still kept him though if he's found guilty... Any ideas on who will replace him?

TVSPY.com has an article on where Larry should go if CBS 3 gives him the boot. One part says that he could end up at FOX 29 with Dawn. Would you watch a husband-wife anchor team? I know there are husband-wife anchor teams all over the country, but not here in Philadelphia.

Unless I'm way out of touch with US standards of behaviour, I think the idea that Larry would get another job in Philly is ridiculous. Nobody, even FOX 29, is going to have him on the air for them after this (if he's found liable, that is).

To the people on this site and others who say they're so stunned and he was such a level-headed guy, isn't that kinda laughable? Yeah he was a good talent for CBS3 (I liked seeing them rise from the ashes with him at the helm) but it was plainly obvious this guy's ego and belief in his own self-importance took him way out of the bounds of reality!

Oh absolutely!

And who's to say Dawn is staying at Fox, maybe she is next to go. They did say more changes or so i thought. I think KLH will be their new ten news anchor.

The funniest thing is that Alycia will come out smelling like a rose. I say that because I was reading an article on newsblues and it said that if KYW does not fire Larry Mendte, then Alycia can cite sex discrimination as a reason for her dismissal. While Larry may or may not find another job in Philadelphia, Ms. Alycia Lane was offered a job at KUSI-TV here in San Diego(I hope she takes it:)). So everything looks all nice and sunny for Alycia, and not looking so good for Larry.

They both deserve new jobs somewhere in this country. I know Larry's still under investigation, but they've both been tossed on proposed actions.

Larry just needs some time off the air after things get settled and after summer, cause people are forgiving and they know the work you did for the area, will resurface likely at 29. It's a perfect reunion. Co-anchor: wife, chief weatherperson: old friend (can't get away from the old EarthWatch team), 29 is looking for someone to help ratings and he'd certainly do it positively.

but one thing will be missing. His credibility!

He doesn't loose credibility on the things he does. He made a mistake, he'll apologize, the Philly people will forgive him. He will move on, the people will move on. Bolaris learned that.

The diff with Lane is that she's "new" to here. Larry's been here and done so much for this area.

You don't lose credibility for a federal offense? That's generous.

Considering how Philadelphia treats its news personalities, there's no way Larry gets a pass on this, whatever the outcome.

That's if he isn't convicted of real serious charges, which I alluded to in an earlier post. In other words, if he ends up getting the "Lane outcome" to his case. A major downgrade in charges.

I am hopeful that, if the viewing audience of Philadelphia has half a brain, they will realize who is behind this accusation.

I don't care if her lawyer denies it, Alycia is behind this. She can't have her cushy job back (and if the rumors of her being offered a spot at KUSI are true, that doesn't matter) so she'll destroy as many lives at her former place of employment as possible in the name of making her look good. And I was one of the few who gave her the benefit of the doubt in regard to her police scuffle several months back, but given this development, I can't do that anymore.

As to reading E-Mail being a federal offense...I think Steve Keeley of FOX29 said it best a couple weeks back...it was something to the effect of "We can't get Bin Laden, but we've got Mendte." I have to believe our government's priorities can't be THAT out of whack, so that makes me believe a certain ex-anchor pushed for an investigation. And besides, how many times have the media run stories telling you to be careful what you E-Mail and how you Web surf at work, as you have no reasonable expectation of privacy there, nor a reasonable expectation that the information will be kept private. I can recall at least a few stories in recent years tantamount to such a scare tactic. (There is then the question of why Larry's computer at home was seized, yes, but this problem appears to be derived from someone purportedly snooping over Larry's shoulder at work.)

This is too bizarre in totality, but this act, illegal as it may be, is too...minor for it to ruin Larry's career, IMO. When I first heard the news, I thought "child pornography"...and then when I read it was just E-Mail snooping, I went, "oh." I don't think this is a big deal to a normal person--at least, it's not as big a deal as allegedly smacking a police officer.

His charity work and community dedication can't be undercut by this. It just can't.

That is such a pie in the sky, "yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus", look at this whole situation. You fail to take into account the cold and somewhat competitive relationship these two had and the reported jealousy Larry had for Alycia. Given his ego (and you can't tell me he doesn't have an ego), you don't believe he couldn't be behind all of the media leaks of Alycia's follies that eventually led to her firing? Also it's been reported that communications between her and her lawyer had been breeched as well which is a big thing being that she is suing the very station where Larry works and there could be a whole other can of worms opened.

Simply put this isn't just a situation of Alycia trying to pull Larry down into hell with her.
