The Ten network - comprising Ten stations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth - has sadly gone into voluntary administration. This is the second time the network has been in such a perilous financial situation. The show will go on for now, as administrators evaluate the company and seek a new buyer.

Today, local Eyewitness News anchors around the network appealed to viewers to keep watching and support local jobs. And the team at The Project made light of their dire predicament.

Here is a good

summary of the situation from the Sydney Morning Herald.

Brisbane news reports from Ten, Seven and Nine (reported by former Ten veteran Eddy Meyer) on Ten's financial crisis (and my 1992 clip gets a short run!)

The TV market in Adelaide (my hometown) has been marked by fierce competition between two strong stations - SAS7 and NWS9 - unlike other cities such as Perth, Sydney or Melbourne which have tended to favor one station. Nine News for decades was the home of Kelvin and Crease - a great pairing and one of those rare male partnerships. Seven has also tended to have the upper hand in the city, with a powerful brand, AFL football rights, the "Nobody Knows Adelaide Like Seven" slogan (and, as I remember every time I visited the city, strong branding domination across the city with the 7 logo on the front of city buses for years).

9 NEWS LIVESTREAM w/Rob McKnight (now EP of Studio 10)

Towards the end of his time at Nine, Rob McKnight also presented a weekly web show called "9StreamLive" - now that was a good one too!

The TV market in Adelaide (my hometown) has been marked by fierce competition between two strong stations - SAS7 and NWS9 - unlike other cities such as Perth, Sydney or Melbourne which have tended to favor one station.

In the case of Sydney and Melbourne I'd probably say that the competition between Seven and traditional market leader Nine has tightened considerably in the last 15 years or so, remembering that Seven News did actually outrate Nine News in both of Australia's two biggest cities for a few years in the mid-late 2000s and even up to the very start of the current decade.

Speaking of Australian takes on American themes, TEN10 had a pretty...overdone version of The Team to Watch a few years earlier. I think I saw a clip with ATV10 in Melbourne using it too.

And where have we seen this before?

There's almost too many campaigns that have crossed over to count - even

and the abomination known as
hit the Australian airwaves. Never ceases to amaze me...
