Bahakel was/is notorious for running things on the cheap at their stations, so no surprise about everything looking cheap in '99.

I found another. This one is even worse

KSWT wasn't exactly Pappas' worst property, but they sure made the station an afterthought during their stewardship (besides, the reason why they bought the station was to flip it to Azteca America, and that didn't exactly pan out).

We got another winner

Worst open? Dude, seriously? MG gave WRIC a fresh new look (FX set, graphics, logo, everything) in 2016 before the Nexstar takeover. Paul Turner became the station's new VO earlier this year. It needed that look.

I’m starting to think this thread is getting WAAAYYYY out of hand for that guy. I’m no moderator, but I personally feel this is spam.

I don't post spam. If you don't agree then say why instead of thinking that I'm some random bot...

I agree, I don't think it's spam. That said, you don't seem to like much, and not every one you've posted is hardly the worst ever. Mediocre and bad doesn't always mean the worst.

I only want the best for these unfortunate stations :D 🤣😂

CFRN-TV (CTV) in Edmonton, Alberta had a really nice opener only a few months ago (first video), then butchered it and went with this crappy opening sequence (second video)...

What even is this open?

I've seen college stations with better graphics 🤣😂

KZSW was a low-powered station broadcasting from Temecula at the time and served a forgotten corner of the Los Angeles DMA. College operations probably have more budget than what they were working with. Regardless, KZSW's newscasts and local programming were canceled shortly after this video.

Hey voiceover dude. WAKE UP!!!!!!!!! Unless the news makes you that bored?

You bet-- even Ernie dadgum Anderson could put more life into Eyewitness News on WABC in NYC, and KABC in L.A., among others!

This 1991 KABC Eyewitness News opening proves why Ernie was the gold standard:
