What happened at 10 today?

We were treated to the NBC feed for most of the second half of the 9AM hour of Today.

No local commercials, and we didn't get the local news until 9:59. Just the NBC feed in all its boring glory.

Is this their new initiative to ensure they stay third -- on the day we get hit with the worst storm of the season?

They prolly did either lose power or the new automated control system struck again. I dunno if you saw the 11PM news the other night where the whole newscast shit the bed and they had to take an early break with the highlight being Tim Lake ripping "the new technology".

isn't WCAU master controlled out of NY?

Not really. The O&Os are hubbed out of New York but NY only has control of network to O&O operations (like tossing between local and national coverage). The local stations still control their day to day operations.
