WFMZ-TV Related Questions

First, WFMZ is owned by Maranatha, not New Century. That would be like asking why Fox invests so much money and equipment in WNYW but not WOGX.

Second, they *do* use Maranatha sat trucks, but why would they need to? The ENG trucks do them just fine. (By the way, all of WFMZ's mobile units are HD; just sayin'.)

Third, Schuylkill County is not in WFMZ's market. WFMZ regularly covers stories in Carbon and Monroe Counties -- though, just to say, I *have* seen the occasional Tamaqua story. Oh, and the Philly stations run through their "partners" in the Lehigh Valley. WCAU through RCN. KYW through Service Electric (IIRC). WPVI through WFMZ. Mr. Santiago can correct those details if need be.

And just one last thing -- you talk about competing with the big boys. WFMZ is number one at 5 and 6 in Berks, Lehigh, Northampton, and Warren Counties. Over WPVI in the three former, and over WABC in the latter.

Sam's correct. WFMZ's main target area encompasses Lehigh, Northampton, Berks and Warren. Obviously if big news breaks in Carbon or Monroe, they'll cover it. Up towards Schuylkill and Columbia county are definitely more of the Scranton market than they are the Lehigh Valley sub-market.
