To celebrate Crónica TV's 25th anniversary, here's an ID that aired during the channel's early years.

This channel revolutionized the industry by introducing a different way of reporting the news: adding impact and a bizarre touch to the stories, sometimes it was first on the scene or broke stories before the rival channels. Crónica invented the "red slides", always accompanied by "Stars and Stripes Forever" from John Philip Sousa, letting us know that something important happened! It was the first news channel that stayed on air during the night with permanent newscasts, while the other channels aired pre-recorded programs or hourly headlines. It collected several Martín Fierro awards for "best cable news service" in the 1990s, defeating its main competitor Todo Noticias (TN).
Here's how Crónica remembers its first day on air, as told by the presenters of its first newscast:

Almost 6 years ago on January 14th, 2013, Portuguese TV station RTP1 premiered a colorful identity, proudly showing timelapses with the country's most beautiful landscapes, monuments and people, reflecting its commitment to the people of Portugal. It's magnificent! Unfortunately, these IDs were pulled from the station in March 2016.

From Portugal: a full broadcast of SIC's late news in April 1998. SIC's late news bulletins that aired on weekends were shorter than the weeknight editions (only ran for 5 or 6 minutes) and an announcer/reporter introduced the stories instead of an on-camera anchor.

The first minutes of SIC's main evening newscast with José Alberto Carvalho at the anchordesk (January 19, 1998). The top story that night is the visit of President Jorge Sampaio to a school in Porto, as he talks to the people and kids in the classroom.
