I think that's the same package WMBF is getting...

I think it's safe to say that this is a standardized HD look (a la Media General) that Raycom is trying to apply to most - if not all - of their stations (sans WOIO, WAVE, and WWBT).

Yep, their home page has some pictures of the new studio and what looks like rehearsals, the monitors they're using shows that graphics style present, so definitely looks to be a more standardized look they're going with.

There are some minor differences station to station. WMC seems to have modified it the most, especially for everything outside the lower thirds, sticking to the gold/blue color theme they've used for several years now.

I've heard rumbles that WTMJ might make the switch this evening. Nothing to back this up except theyr'e using HD ENG field cameras, and 4 years ago they waited till the Olympics with their Renderon graphics.

Unfortunately, no such luck. :(

Well, in Charleston, SC, there may be HD local news in a month or two. WCSC has been running promos with the numbers 9.29 with Charleston landmarks as the background.

Most likely, this means that WCSC will add HD newscasts, with the graphics that are used on WWBT, probably.

I've heard that KMGH 7 in Denver has started broadcasting the news in HD as of Monday, Aug 18th. I have also seen that posted on Wikipedia. However, KMGH's own TV listing doesn't show their news in HD and I can find nothing on the station's website indicating the switch. could someone confirm that KMGH is now doing its news in HD.

September 8th is the debut of the New York HD broadcasts.

I should clarify, sorry.

The expansion of HD is for the road tour of WN and Nightline (both on the road for two weeks for the political conventions).

Channel 4 in Nashville WSMV annouced on its website, that there HD debut was coming soon.

I think they're looking at a mid-September launch for HD news at WSMV. Currently, from what I've observed, they've added back-lit glass blocks to the main anchor desk as well as the weather center. Now if only they could do something to the dark blue background.

UPDATE: September 15 is the date set for HD News at that station.

I've been informed that KGTV in San Diego started broadcasting its news in HD on Saturday, August 30th. This has been confirmed in Wikipedia.

Also, the list is still in the 2007-2008 Nielsen DMA ranking order. Are you going to re-order it for the 2008-2009 DMA rankings?

I'll get around to updating the DMA rankings...

I'm getting indications that WGME in Portland, ME may be ready to launch HD News this Tuesday, to coincide with the launch of its 7PM "political" (IE Sinclair right wing agenda-pushing) program.

Perhaps WEAR could be the next Sinclair station to flip the HD news switch...September 8th could be the day to coincide with the "official" launch of World News in HD.

Who knows...maybe they'll start carrying WN on the weekends...but i'm not holding my breath.

Really, i can't get 23 in High Def, stupid Comcast. So I guess i'll watch it on 8 @ 11. BTW this (the whole WISH going HD) was totally unexpected.

EDIT::: They are in HD already. Plus, Chopper 8 is in HD aswell, and most field cameras.
