That leaves the question of what happens with Mission's pending acquisition of WADL.

I've already got the answer.

NGL, I Kevin kinda blew it here. I get that the FCC wasn't eager to greenlight the sale to Mission, but demanding more money from Nexstar in the age of reverse compensation cost WADL dearly.

On the other hand, the fact that Scripps was willing to sacrifice what might have been eventual prime time space for the Tigers/Pistons/Red Wings if/when DSG goes belly-up suggests they can be talked into keeping The CW on at least some their stations.

Hahaha. I love that Spongebob moment but it sounds true for what's happening to WADL right now.

Considering he broke the contract (which going by what he claims didn't exist in the first place) clearly he doesn't really have a case here; he might be confusing himself with the terms of the has-been networks he carried before; this is a station that proudly carried Newsmax for a couple years in primetime for some reason and couldn't bother for years to upgrade to HD while they carried WDIV pre-emptions, so his business acumen is really dreadful.

Is Adell high on drugs or what?! First, he wants his station to carry the CW, then weeks later he decides not to carry the CW. What the hell is going on over at Adell Broadcasting and WADL 38?

It’s a weird stuff-a-palooza! In all seriousness, why is Kevin Adell doing all of this. Cease and desist? To a TV STATION? Kevin’s gotta be scripting all this.

If the FCC had real powers (and if Detroit was once like it was many decades ago before the automakers ruined it), they should have stripped Kevin Adell of his FCC license in favor of someone who could provide a better public service than he has.

This would have been nice in the 90s when CBS was looking for a new home, and WGPR could have stayed true to it's original mission, instead of being sucked away by CBS to provide a network station for Detroit.

“Adell told B+C he did not have an affiliation agreement with The CW, but agreed to air the network as an “accommodation” as he awaited the FCC’s signoff on the sale.”

Someone just needs to get this boy away now. If he is “accommodating” them, like he says, he has a contract with them. How is Scripps and WMYD breaking anything? The CW/Nexstar had to go to them, not the other way around.

THAT RIGHT THERE. So, let's just say this was all without an affiliation agreement.  Well then, at any point, Nexstar themselves could have easily pulled the affiliation. But let's say that Nexstar and Adell had gotten into it after the CW began airing WWE and acquiring whatever other events and then Nexstar had pulled the affiliation and gave it to whoever.

Adell would STILL be crying nonsense. This is the man that had a major network affiliation in 1994 all but handed to him on a gold (never mind silver) platter but managed to mess that up and sent them to a station no one knew existed and is just now relevant. Adell is what would have happened had Weigel been run by wackos and it's an insult to even mention Weigel in this post.

So you're saying that he's so bad that people and companies we consider to be terrible owners would be better than him?

HC2/Innovate would literally be a better owner of that station than him. Even the haunted spirit of Ernest Angley knows how to navigate an affiliation agreement (and even if he had no role when WBNX lost the CW, it's still a thriving station now).
