Any talk of an outside sale is pure fantasy. Exactly. That's probably a big reason why the price is over $200M as well. If it was only WBBH and not the LMA as well, it would likely have been around $125M to $150M I would think. I know the market is over twice the size, but what was the purchase price when Tegna acquired KFMB in San Diego? That was the last large market standalone station sold that I can think of.
TheRob 878
TEGNA paid $325 million for the KFMBs (TV, FM, AM). They turned around and got $5 million for the radio stations.

CircleSeven 1804
While one big M&A was terminated last night, another deal is about to reach the finish line...... Nearly seven weeks after filing the paperwork, the FCC has greenlighted this WBBH deal.

Surprisingly they run two news operations on at competing times instead of similcasting or reducing the other to a junior station. mre29 1191
I'll be interested in seeing if WBBH gets the current standard Hearst TV station website design, which is several years old now, or if the company is planning on using them to launch a new design. The best way to phrase that is that the license is not, but Hearst replaces Waterman as its service provider and will handle all the operations under (an amended version of) the original 1994 LMA.

Wouldn't it be better to just lease time on one of these sidecar stations? Or does the FCC not allow that?
