YES Network goes DTC

This isn't a first for a regional sports network, but it's still notable.

The YES Network (Yankees, Nets, Liberty) announced a new direct-to-consumer subscription product today, just in time for the start of baseball season.

We'll see how this goes.

$25 a month.

I get they carry three teams, but that barely makes sense as an in-season price!

Woof. Sports is going to break *all* the pay-TV models eventually.

Way too high. I can't imagine many NY cord cutters want to entertain that. Just imagine in New York, in order to watch all non-National TV Yankees and Nets games, you'll have to pay at least 35-40 bucks a month (as Yankees have a deal with Prime). Just pure insanity.
