sfomspphl 382
The 3 shot with the weather anchor looks pretty good actually - the horizontal light bars make the set look more expansive than it is. A change of pace from other sets that are too bathed in white, have that stuck in a corner feel. If they removed 'CBS AUSTIN NEWS' logo taking over 4 screens on the 2 shot it would be a lot easier on the eyes. I think the last 6 months a number of sets are breaking that TEGNA 2013 set mold that's become stale, making better use of dimension and depth, and using a fuller sized desk to make the talent more professional. nycnewsjunkie 899
It looks like a cheaper version of a Fox News set from 2010. Not a fan of this set at all, but considering the fact that Sinclair is taking a bath on their RSNs, I’m not surprised that this was the end result. And have the upcoming O&O GFX. I agree. 1
brb588 80
It looks like a sitcom's rendition of a news set. 2

This. They have to do something about the logo being everywhere. How did they not catch that earlier? Or did they not care? They have been using a shot of downtown on the video wall behind the anchors a lot, but that only takes it from 5 logos to 4 on the wide shot. With the desk, they could maybe do the day of the week on one screen and the date on the other, then switch it to an animation showing the logos of the social channels they’re on? And then their URL? Repeat. Kind of like a bug on steroids. Just spitballing here. That would get them down to 2 logos, which is manageable. The columns look good when there’s a OTS on them. Otherwise … meh. The new KXAN set is guilty of having multiple logos, too, but it’s nowhere near as obnoxious.
Geoffrey 432
I miss the days when news sets weren't just screens everywhere. And then to fill those screens with mostly just logos?
