Griffin Communications posted pictures of owner David Griffin giving OKC mayor and other dignitaries a tour of News 9’s new media center at the Century Center in Downtown OKC while it’s still under construction they show a part of the set where in studio interviews will be done along with other stories also have pictures of what will be the newsroom and I’m guessing the lobby.

Whoops looks like they may have a delay in moving into the new building they had a crane and construction crews working to remove this video board outside and the crane tipped over onto the building so now they have to have an inspector come look and see how bad the damage is and if it will delay the move there is damage to parts of the outside of the building.

Sales team in the newsroom? Yikes…

Maybe now sales/marketing/creative service will get an idea of how hectic and busy the newsroom is when they go off sell or order stuff the newsroom must do before asking anyone "downstairs" if the logistics will work.

Also remember they have other tenants that will occupy the building it won’t just be News 9.  The Oklahoman (newspaper) will remain along with several restaurants and a YMCA as of now so space was probably limited for sales to be separated from the newsroom.

The current KWTV facilities will not be torn down.

In fact Griffin Media is donating EVERYTHING in the current building to Langston University with Langston set to move it's Journalism Program to the Kelley Ave Studios in January

Kwtv is set for the first broadcast to be Sunday November 13th.  And while the set is still technically not available for the public to see pictures of yet until the debut Karl Torp is working at the downtown studio today and posted this from the set’s Bob Mills weather center.

Here’s a couple of pictures from NEWS 9 This Morning as they talked about the move and new set. Starting tonight at 10 and through all of next week they will have stories on the old building and will debut the new building on Sunday at 5:30 as planned. They also held a dedication ceremony this morning at the new building and had OKC mayor along with owner David Griffin make statements.

I hope that's not the anchor desk. It's not authoritative. It looks temporary and dinky.

It was announced during the Saturday morning newscast, that said newscast will be the last to originate from the Kelley Ave. studio. Tulsa sister station KOTV will produce the Saturday 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. and Sunday morning newscasts this weekend, before production moves to the downtown studio beginning with the 5:30 p.m. newscast Sunday night.

(This is clearly a different tack from what KFOR did when it moved to its current studio in 2017, when it produced its Friday newscasts from the old 444 E. Britton building and produced its Saturday newscasts from the newer studio the next day; though in that case, the current KFOR/KAUT building was built next to the old one, making a more seamless transition of news production between the studios possible, whereas KWTV/KSBI is moving several miles across town.)

The first night had a few bumps with the production control equipment. During the 5:30 p.m. newscast, there was about ten seconds of black screen between the open and the cut to the main set as well as a few issues with cueing between different studio shots.

These issues were avoided during the 10:00, however they popped up again during the OK Sports Blitz (which is simulcast on KOTV, so Tulsa viewers got to see the TD issues as well): cutting to Dean Blevins in-studio seconds before the cue with no intro sequence, and being unable to cut to John Holcomb’s segments at the KOTV studios in Tulsa, a Thunder game report and other video packages during the opening segment (at least they cut Dean’s mic at the times Holcomb was supposed to appear, but you could see him getting a little impatient with the technical issues). A technical difficulties slide was shown in place of Segment B, and they had to fall back on KOTV’s PCR (with Blevins MIA and Holcomb mostly solo) for the rest of the program.

The News 9 Now subchannel is having major technical difficulties, can't even replay the main stations Noon show as well.

This is all part of this move, they have to get the kinks worked out.

Wonder if this was the original plan and the anchors in the corner was temporary until they got lighting or something

Great looking interview area, and the main anchor area has nice depth and warmth from the wood accents. They also add a sense of height with the columns extending beyond the frame of the shot.

Nice job framing the area above the anchors with the lit headers though I'd love to see the '9 Oklahoma's Own' up there rather on the anchor desk
