NBC News posted an article well before you posted this. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.today.com/today/amp/tdna226149
WheelWarrior 92
WPXI Pittsburgh is one of the few non-O&O's that is starting The Olympic Zone on Thursday instead of Saturday. For the entire Olympics run, Wheel of Fortune is moving to the Pittsburgh Cable News Channel (PCNC).
TVNewsJunkie15 56
I think it interesting ABC sent Amy Robach to the Olympics when she really can't do anything. If I not mistaken the only thing ABC can show is stilled images nothing else. NBC has the exclusive rights which means they can air video clips and replays. They also have first dibs on interviews with athletes, coaches, etc. I wonder if it times like these Amy had wished she stayed at NBC?
Roadrunner 212
Whatever the television rights may be, I'm sure ABC wants someone there in case something big happens and they have boots on the ground from a face people will know. If Amy wanted to leave, she probably would've done it after the 20/20 scandal, and she has a lot more control over her roles now (from what I presume), so I think she'll be where she is for at least a short while. Even if she is fully vaccinated the risk of getting seriously ill is still higher than zero as low as it is.
MorningNews 1290
Amy has covered the Olympics on location for ABC since she arrived at the network. She also seems like the obvious successor to Robin Roberts once she’s ready to leave GMA. I think she’s in a good spot.
