Sad news here in Richmond. Longtime WWBT anchor Andrea McDaniel passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer last week. She anchored NBC12 News Today and NBC12 News at Noon from 1985 to 2006. After that, she continued to appear on-air and represent the station on several community projects and then later hosted the station's RVA Today segments (RVA is Richmond's nickname) until last year.

Here is Andrea when she was a young upstart anchor at then-2 year old independent station WFTS Channel 28 in Tampa. 11 years before they would become an ABC affiliate.

A couple of passings to note.

Longtime WRC anchor & reporter Joe Krebs passed away from pancreatic cancer at the age of 78.

He was the anchor of the morning show News 4 Today for 18 years until his retirement in 2012.

Also, former WDRB meteorologist Paul Emmick passed away last week of natural causes. He was only 55.

That's awful. No parent should ever have to bury a child. My condolences go out to Marsh and her family.
