A worker was killed and two others were trapped on the tower while performing maintenance work on WJTC's broadcast tower in Robertsdale, Alabama.

This was a tower crew hired to do the work and not station employees.

WJTC is the sister station of WPMI, and co-owned along with WEAR and WFGX in Pensacola.

The market is supposed to have a "rescan day" tomorrow as WJTC and WFNA will turn into ATSC 3.0 stations and the existing programming will be sub-channeled onto the others.

A very tragic situation indeed, and my personal condolences to the family of the deceased.

Hard to believe, it is now been 25 years ago today Milwaukee Television News and WITI-TV would never be the same. Tonight, TVNT remembers a Milwaukee Television icon... the late, great Vince Gibbens. His colleagues refer to him as Capt. Ad-Lib (Vince ad-libs on his news stories and reports). Vince worked at various stations starting in Providence, RI (WJAR), then joined WISN-TV from 1978 to 1981.

After a stint in Sacramento, he returned to Milwaukee in '82 to join WITI-TV (Then CBS - Now FOX) where he worked with so many greats; Kim Devore, Mike Miller, Nancy Laffey, John Drilling, Joanne WIlliams, Vince Condella, and Carl Zimmerman. After spent 3 1/2 years at WBAL-TV (Then CBS - Now NBC) he returned to the same position at WITI in '89 where he paired with the late Melodie Wilson at 5pm and Joyce Garbaciak (Now at WISN) at 6 & 10pm.

During his 2nd run at WITI, Gibbens was praised by his co-workers for his cool handling of major breaking news and news emergencies. Vince was a dedicated family man, a husband, a father of five children, and member of the military who served his country as a broadcaster for the Armed Forces Network; Gibbens was truly a well respected communicator.

But his life was cut short 25 years ago when he lost his life at the age of 46 to an apparent heart attack. Gibbens death was a total shock to all news viewers and fans in Milwaukee and all of Wisconsin who adore and watched him for so many years.

Many broadcasters and viewers mourned his death, but we celebrate his life, the standards of journalism he set, and the legacy he leaves. Vince (Capt. Ad-Lib), You'll NEVER be forgotten by the fans who grew up watching you in Milwaukee, and the dedication of Television News you made it happened.

RIP Vince and Godspeed.

Macon lost a broadcast legend on this Christmas Eve. Longtime 13WMAZ (Eyewitness) News anchor Tina Hicks has passed away yesterday. Hicks had a nearly 30-year run at 13WMAZ, serving as the first African-American to anchor at the CBS station.

Hicks was known for her humble spirit and strong work ethic, Hicks retired from the station in 1999.

Thoughts, prayers, and condolences go out the family of Tina Hicks, and to her extended family at 13WMAZ in this very difficult time.

Bill Lambdin, who spent most of his 41-year career as a reporter for WNYT in Albany, died from cardiac arrest yesterday at age 69. According to the linked obituary, he "was said to have covered more stories for [WNYT] than any reporter in its history." He worked at WNYT from 1980 until he retired in 2014.

Here's a (short) story from the station reporting on his death.

I'm not gonna lie, this one hurts...and those living in the Baton Rouge market or has worked in the market would say the same thing. I watched her in the late 80s and the 90s with George Sells while I was in junior high and high school.  She was awesome at her job and an even better person off the set. My condolences to her family and the Channel 9 family.

I had the honor of going to the same church as Donna when I lived near Baton Rouge for a brief time, couldn’t be nicer.  RIP to a great anchor, and a great person.
