Sad news out of Birmingham today, and it is with a very heavy heart we're sad to say that former long time WBRC morning and midday anchor Bill Bolen

has passed away today. Bolen worked at WBRC-TV (back when 'BRC was an ABC affiliate before switching to FOX in '96) for 40 years until he retired

almost seven years ago (January 28, 2010). Bolen came to 'BRC in 1969 an anchored the 10PM News before moving to mornings in 1973.

Bill Bolen was 81 years old. Thoughts and prayers are with Bill's family and to Mr. Bolen's extended family at WBRC-TV FOX 6.

Rest in Peace, Bill and Godspeed.

Sad news this evening, former WBZ anchor Tony Pepper passed away on Tuesday, April 3rd, at the age of 79 after complications due to diabetes and heart disease. When he came to Boston he initially worked with Tom Ellis but soon after and most memorably was partnered with Jack Williams, helping WBZ-TV be number one in Boston for many years. Tony was known for his great patriotism, wry sense of humor, huge laugh, and his beautifully modulated voice. He was passionately engaged in all manner of social and civic issues, especially equality and fairness.

Thoughts and condolences goes out to the family of Tony Pepper and to his WBZ-TV family.

I have some very news to tell you all, and it is with a very heavy heart to tell you that longtime KTRK Chief Weathercaster Ed Brandon has passed away peacefully

last night at the age of 75. Ed came to KTRK in May of 1972 and spent 35 years delivering the weather to so many Houstonians to see whether they need sunglasses

or a raincoat. Ed served for many years on The Advisory Board of Houston City Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. He hosted an annual golf tournament benefiting

Cenikor, one of the nation's largest and most successful non-profit residential treatment centers for indigent alcoholics and drug addicts.

A public memorial service is being planed.

Our thoughts, prayers and condolences goes out to Ed Brandon's family and to Ed's extended family at ABC13 Eyewitness News (KTRK).

Rest in peace, Ed and Godspeed.

Sad news indeed, I'm so glad I got to watch Ed for a few years before his retirement. Brandon, Dave Ward, Gina Gaston, Marvin Zindler and Bob Allen were the 6 pm news team I watched growing up.

Here's an awesome photo from Channel 13 of Texas' news 6 and 10 pm newsteam from the late 1980s-early 2000s. Classic! Sadly the entire top row is now passed on.39944401_10156273728849342_6414925452082675712_o.thumb.jpg.93a92b3677a5bb6d46bc99af2065f381.jpg

Longtime NBC News and WTVJ Miami reporter Ike Seamans has passed away after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was 80.

This man was GOOD. Really GOOD. I know because I watched him for years at WTVJ and was lucky enough to watch his craft with his amazing news voice. A stellar news reporter, excellent at best and legendary at the most. He will be missed.

Longtime Chicago anchor/host/personality Warner Saunders died last night at 83. He spent time at a few stations, but his long run at WMAQ is where he built his legacy, going from program host, to sports, eventually ascending to lead anchor. A Chicago public schoolteacher before his TV career, he retired in 2009.
