KVEO (CBS) New Set

I’m surprised Nexstar gave them a new set. I was originally expecting they just give them some new graphics. This pretty much kills off the idea that the on air broadcasts would be merged into one.

Where’s the set at? El Paso? Or RGV? And what is KVEO doing about newscasts?

The new set is at the CBS4/NBC23 Studio in Harlingen. Remember, the staff and management of KVEO moved into the CBS 4 studios when Nexstar

acquired CBS 4 from Sinclair.

So close to six months after Nexstar took over the former KGBT's intellectual property, KVEO has replaced that old Sinclair set for a new Nexstar-style set for the CBS subchannel.

It's interesting that they're using the WISH package, because the duras suggest the Nexstar CBS package.

It looks like they used a hybrid of the WKRN version of the Nexstar ident at the end of that 5pm newscast--because they have names of towns from Tennessee and Kentucky.   Kinda odd since they do emphasize Texas on the map but then transition to the Nexstar logo with those TN/KY town names.

For a market of that size, this is a really good set for them.  Hopefully this is an indicator that they'll keep both of the KVEO and CBS4 branded newscasts.

I'm surprised they kept Richard Malmos for the VO. You usually don't hear him much outside of the Sinclair stations.

Fun fact: The last non Sinclair station that used Malmos as their VO was KMOV in St. Louis.

Now if WDKY can get that kind of treatment when Nexstar takes over, when ever that is. That would be cool.

If they decide to branch away from WKYT.
