Update: Mike Davis has been fired. Station management has shared a statement on their website.

Any chance that TEGNA will force Cardenas out in the near future?

sooner or later they will-

Y'know, this sentence gives the impression that Jerry Revish was caught up in this mess. Just sayin'.

How was Jerry caught up in this mess?  Jerry about to retire and with his background he was caught off guard just like everybody else...WTH?

Ask @TexasTVNews. He's the one who wrote the sentence I was responding to.

WCMH posted the squad car video of Davis being taken to the Franklin County Jail.

Does this video add anything to the story at all? I mean, it's literally 20 minutes of Mike Davis saying nothing in a police car.

I disagree with kicking somebody while their down, which this video does.

Times have changed. The reaction of most people I've talked to is to shrug their shoulders. One guy told me he thought most of those kinds of pictures were probably photoshopped and that he's not hurting anybody. I would give you part II of his comments, but it might be too raw for you guys.

8 years max and $15k fine. Felony record. But more charges could be added.

He could also receive just probation according to an attorney on 610 WTVN who was talking about this. But if there's thousands of images?

If it goes before a jury, it will be interesting to see if his celebrity/goodwill in the community will affect the outcome. One thing going for him.

Well that goodwill he is has is shot to hell now. So if he really banking on that... he better not do it!

Just spitballing here, but I bet he gets no more than one year and probation. It's only pictures and I would bet that  most of them were photoshopped, i.e. no actual kids involved. If no kids are involved, in my opinion it's not too much different than being a thought crime. It's weird, but it's none of my business what goes on in the guy's head.

I'd be interested to see where the legal proceedings goes.

I can't even imagine how uncomfortable public appearances are going to be for the 10TV talent. You know it will probably be brought up. I'm sure they are barred from discussing it.

I would imagine most folks are sympathetic towards the 10TV team.  Nine months after losing Chris Bradley, this happens.  Plus, Columbus people are keenly aware the Wolfe family no longer owns the station, and understand change will come with that too - like Revish retiring.  This just adds a ton of fuel to the fire...  I’d hope the public is kind to the 10TV folks and the talent is free to say “thank you for thinking of us.”

They have Kelly Greene from WTHR filling in this evening on weather. This is the first WTHR personality I've seen on WBNS.

Is she actually there at the studio or working from Indy?

I always thought this was a lost opportunity for Dispatch. They should have done more sharing back and forth between the stations, if for no other reason than to just keep things interesting. I didn't get to see her on WBNS, but I like her personality. It's odd seeing a middle aged woman on TV who isn't rail thin, though.

She was in the 10TV studio. She is a beautiful woman, btw.

The current GM was the former GM at WTHR, IIRC. Also, Chris Bradley did some work and/or training at WTHR, off air I think.

John Cardenas flipped between WBNS and WTHR quite often, and served as VP of News for Dispatch until 2013 and Tom Griesdorn’s retirement.

Attorney Brad Koffel said even though the penalties sound horrific, he'll probably get probation. He downloaded and emailed to himself, not to anybody else. Sounds bogus to put the guy through all this and ruin him over some pictures on the internet., IMO.

Pictures of child porn. No big deal, right?

The same ninnies were screaming about regular porn 20 years ago. Most of that stuff is photoshopped anyway. Who cares as long as he doesn't touch anyone? It's not my thing, but it's only electrons. Don't care.

Besides, when you crucify someone for what goes on in their heads, isn't it a thought crime?

well you certainly are living up to the "dirty" part of your username.

Hey, I'm an Ozzie and Harriet kind of guy. I would prefer that society was still like it was in the 1950s, but that train has left the station, it is long gone and it is never coming back. Unfortunately. So you are left with the problems inherent in  having a libertine society. You can't lock everybody up. You also can't deny people the right to make a living. You have to be realistic and work with what you got.

People consume porn and there's not much anybody can do about it. As long as he doesn't touch anybody, it's not really my business what he j---s off to. And I will again emphasize, it's not really my thing!

And back in those days...

The Sears catalog was considered "porn" in developed households.
