WBNS meteorologist Mike Davis arrested, charged with pandering child pornography

Still completely blown away by all of this.

It is insane that in the course of 6 months, they’ve lost Chris Bradley to leukemia, then this.  It is like the complete opposite sides of the “Q-score” spectrum—Bradley will be universally beloved while Davis’s reputation is in complete ruin.

It’s likely too soon to discuss - but where does 10TV go from here?  Who fills that spot?  And with Revish out the door soon, 1/2 of their main team will need to be replaced.  Not to mention, the new reality that is TEGNA.  It’s a situation that was unthinkable even two years ago.  (I mean, when Cambern left, she announced it publicly 8 months in advance and they had time to find a “suitable” replacement.)

Unbelievable.

10TV (Eyewitness) News is really in a mess. Now they'll have to find a new male anchor and chief meteorologist because of all this horse manure. I've mention it before and I'll say it again. 10TV needs to

remove MD's bio, fire his ass already, put in a intern chief in the early evening/late newscasts and get it the hell over with.

Right now, WSYX is the picture of health right now. Stable news team, solid coverage of the news, Somehow with some luck avoid most of Sinclair's BS. The 6/28 team up is paying off for Sinclair to the point it can be seen as a flagship for the company.

I think the rumor was that WSYX/WTTE alone was at one point generating 40% of Sinclair's profits. Not now, of course, because they were so big, but WSYX was always a VERY profitable station. Taft Broadcasting dumped CBS at their stations back in the 1960's because of all the money they were making there!!!

Kevin Landers looked especially pissed.

Rightfully so.  In the longer video posted above...around 3:15 - he asks Davis if he's talked to his wife at all.  (And named her by her first name.)  Eeek!

From the looks of things, he walked from the courthouse to the Miranova condos.  So - his Wolfe money covered the $50K bond and temporary housing in a condo.  Can't get that on a TEGNA salary.

UPDATE - He has officially been fired from WBNS:  https://www.10tv.com/article/mike-davis-released-jail-after-arraignment-child-pornography-charge-2019-sep

Don't have to go far Jeff Booth could do the job.

Update: Mike Davis has been fired. Station management has shared a statement on their website.

Any chance that TEGNA will force Cardenas out in the near future?

Maybe he's next? No-no-no-no I don't want to start any rumors. That was just a joke.

Kevin Landers always looks like he's urinated off about something.

He's not bad. Could a job open up for Eric Elwell too? WHIO North?

This is the most surreal thing I've seen. Here he is-wearing pajamas-surrounded by reporters. Threw his career away. From role model to the gutter.

We were talking about that in the car on a trip to Cleveland and back I had to take today. I was with my parents (both in their 80's) and after my dad was done making his cracks (he said at least he wasn't collecting pictures of little boys ... lol), we all decided we felt sorry for the guy for the reasons I've mentioned. The internet makes it too easy to get sucked into a dark lifestyle if you have these kinds of predispositions.

I'm going to guess that the average Columbus TV viewer is going to think the same thing. He's been around long enough that I think people might forgive after a while. At least he wasn't diddling them.

Mike Davis is now on the lists of disgrace local broadcasters, and the only two I could think of are Gerry Grant (KMOL, ET, KSAT) and Bill Kamal (WUSA, WSVN). Both broadcasters had their career tarnished.

Don't forget Rob Lopicola from WPTV, although I think his arrest/conviction happened after he quit TV.

His Twitter account was also pulled; his last 'post' was an automated pic from the weather computers with Thursday's school bus stop forecast...and of course that brought out the wiseacres to comment on the irony of such (even though it was clearly an auto-post), along with incredibly disgusting jokes about prison and assault. He did an incredibly awful thing and ruined his life, but why put that on your own timeline with a comment like that?

Because Twitter isn't sanitized, politically correct, corporate radio and TV and it isn't the paper of record, either. Actually, comment boards are more like old-school Top-40 radio where you get to interract with the DJ. You guys may be far removed from it, but out in the real world people joke about things like this and a late middle aged man trading porno pictures of little girls like some people trade baseball cards is indeed fodder for sick jokes.

This Mike Davis saga will have a more lasting effect than such past indiscretions as Jym Ganahl's addiction to painkillers and the Angela Pace incident when she flipped the bird between topical tapings and a still made the air during programming.

There's no chance of him working again in TV, especially if he's convicted and sent to prison.

That's completely true, but I think he has built a lot of goodwill over the years by virtue of being here and just being a friendly, familiar face. I'm not saying people love the guy, but he doesn't annoy people either and I think that counts for something. Different story if he's actually diddling kids, however, which, thankfully, he didn't do. In fact, getting caught may have been good for him. Being given a time out may have kept him from taking the next step and actually trying to meet up with or molest someone young.

Of course I'm not like most normal people. People lose all rationality when kids are involved. Like when the Jerry Sandusky thing was going on, they wanted to blame everybody and everything in sight. (Like Paterno is supposed to put on a Sheriff;s badge and start investigating crimes on campus? Give me a break!)

One would hate to think if Dispatch was blindly allowing this to happen, especially if he was doing this at work.  Dispatch may have had a less stringent, more permissive IT policy where people could figuratively "get away with things" whether it would be watching YouTube, playing games in downtime, or the latter.  Anymore, IT has become more stringent over the years and when Tegna was working on implementing their policies, they could have uncovered something suspicious...

That's saying IF he was doing this at work.....that would be a major, stupid risk at ANY workplace, no matter the policy.....

I was watching the bizarre perp walk to Miranova.

I saw most of the reporters holding cell phones in addition to the photogs. Are the reporters trying to get still images for the station website or what's up with the reporters using their phones in addition to the regular photographers?

I know that camera quality is really good but wouldn't it also produced a shakier image?

Reporters and photogs take video and pictures at the same time as the professional camera so that they can instantly post content to social media.

Y'know, this sentence gives the impression that Jerry Revish was caught up in this mess. Just sayin'.
