Altitude Sports & Entertainment

Altitude Sports & Entertainment has been dropped by Dish Network as of Midnight August 28th , as of 5pm today (8/31) AT&T/DirecTV dropped the network & later on tonight Comcast will drop it as well, folks are asking why they don't offer streaming services, but the network hasn't replied.   It will be interesting to see how long these sports teams remain off the air or if a new deal will happen.

They are the exclusive home to the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Mammoth, & University of Denver Pioneers Hockey, Basketball, Lacrosse & Swimming.

It is, something about fee increases but I can't find info so I didn't post anymore.

This article provides more detail on what's going on.

Worth noting that unlike Fox and Comcast which streams their RSNs through YouTubeTV, Hulu, etc., Altitude doesn't. Seems like they're taking a very backwards approach to a rapidly changing industry.

When are some of these companies that are resistant to change going to wake up and realize that streamming is the future? Clearly Stan Kroenke hates streamming and yet he's building a futuristic-type NFL stadium for the Rams and Chargers in the Los Angeles area (Inglewood to be more specific).

Hypocracy much?

Wouldn't expect from the ownership of Kroenke

What is Mr.Kroenke's leverage in securing those streaming paths at a reasonable cost?

Who's gonna cut him a break?  Everybody wants a piece of his pie.

Seems Hulu and Youtube have alliances already in place.

I wonder, if anyone, will cave first as Comcast & DISH have business interest in Metro Denver while AT&T owns Altitude's competitor, AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain. Let's see what happens when games begin in October.

This was posted earlier this evening (Fri 10/18)...   Maybe the Colorado Avalanche will get some deal soon too.

It's the first time since the 2001/2002 season that the Nuggets have aired on Over the air TV in Denver. In the 2002/2003 season they aired on Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain (Now AT&T Sports Net Rocky Mountain).

KTVD originally carried the Denver Nuggets from 1995-2002.

Altitude is pulling a page out of the Dodgers' playbook. Also, I see that the "genius" at Altitude, Matt Hutchings, was also in charge of the ill-fated CSN Houston earlier in the decade. Hutchings cannot get a carriage deal done if one bit him in the behind.

For the first time since the '86/'87 season KWGN is carrying a DU Pioneers hockey game Live.   DU Games aired on KTVD from 1992 to the early 2000s, before moving to FSN/AT&T Sports Rocky Mountain & Then 4 years ago it moved to Altitude.
