Here we go!

FOX 8 New Orleans has morning (4:30-10am), evening (4-7pm including the WOF-J! hour) and late-night (9-10:30pm) dominance. This makes me think WWL-TV won the noon slot, again.

https://www.fox8live.com/2019/05/23/fox-maintains-spot-ratings/

WKMG has cut into WFTV's dominance by winning the 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. newscasts.  However, in terms of the main timeslots, 6:00 a.m., 12:00 noon, 6:00 and 11:00 p.m., WFTV still wins.

KDKA is still #1 in Pittsburgh with the exception of mornings, at least in A25-54.

Nothing official other than a Instagram post from Ashley Hinson saying that WBAL’s 5pm was #1. In February it was WJZ (again reported through Instagram). I wonder if Mary Bubala’s firing was a direct part in the ratings change or if people were simply tuning into WBAL more? I know we will never see it but I’d be interested in seeing the ratings while Bubala was still there. Then again at the same time WBAL has pushed more investigations (and some silly stuff like hidden fast food meals) at 5pm and they had the lead up to the Preakness.

I wish we could see Austin ratings but the Statesman TV writer was promoted to a position with corporate and wasn’t replaced. So no one is writing about media in the Texas state capital anymore. Sad. If anyone happens to get numbers, please share.

We have a station meeting to announce the sweeps results for Nashville next Friday. I'll report back what comes of that.

That's what you call a competitive market. Bet those newsrooms are fun to work in (slight sarcasm).

Overall, I'd consider CBS 11 the 4th place station though, with the rest very close.

Nashville is very similar in this regard to being very competitive. It will be interesting to see what comes of this, especially since the last sweeps period put WSMV in last place for the first time ever. Ratings have improved a lot, but we will see just how much.

The big story in Atlanta is the continued growth by WGCL CBS46. They crushed WXIA at 11pm and 9/10pm, which is now in last place, beat them often in other time periods, and almost tied WAGA and WSB on a few days on a few shows. Saw record growth--all newscasts up by huge percentages. The noon newscast, up a whopping 400%!

I know FTV had a post on WJLA having hash marks for the entire morning news. That can’t be correct...even if in last place it can’t be nearly that low. Confirmation?

I was wondering that myself. Maybe those are demos — which are lower than household numbers. That would still be bad, horrible in fact, but slightly more understandable.

If that is the case, then it's like how did that happen? Losing their entire audience would be almost unprecedented. I'm very skeptical though, even though I am sure it is (at all hours) well behind WRC, WTTG and WUSA.

I know ratings started to get measured (although remained atrocious) when GMA started based on that sheet.

B-bu-but....

a novelty name for the process that Tegna puts their stations through to bring them in line with corporate standards, but hyphenated to bypass the wordfilter.

😂

This whole situation seems unlikely. Increase 300% while a rival drops to zero? Impossible no. Unlikely yes.

About WGCL inching up to WSB and WAGA...I bet not even the sudden departures of Paul Ossmann (with Jennifer Valdez upped to Chief Meteorologist) and now Sharon Reed aren't hurting them one bit, and I think stories like this are drawing them in:

They sure are "getting results" alright!

As for WXIA? At least they're beating ET, TMZ, and Big Bang Theory at 7:30 (thanks of course to The James Holzhauer Half-Hour, aka Jeopardy!)

That Sony Pictures Television Power Hour is very potent.

Is this new for Atlanta? It reminds me a lot of early-2000s KCTV during their "Live. Late-breaking. Investigative." days. They frequently had overly dramatic confrontations like this.
