WTMJ Set Updates

Scripps has brought their obsession with white and silver sets to WTMJ with a minor refresh of their 2012 Devlin set.

It looks like much of the dark wood paneling has been covered over with some white textured pattern, and the color changing LED lightboxes have all just been set to a cool white color. There are still some surfaces not covered over with new materials that looks wildly out of place now.

Not a fan...

A year later and we get... a new desk! Oh boy, it's a standing desk. So hip!

It looks like the weather center desk has also been removed, and the two monitors behind either side of the desk (usually used for OTS shots) are gone as well.

This desk looks like a smaller version of the anchor desk that KDKA has (sidenote: KDKA's set is also a Devlin set).

There have been more updates, this time to the monitor walls behind the anchor desk and the standup area. The previous arrays of horizontal thin-bezel monitors have been replaced by vertical thin-bezel monitors. The large 2x2 thin bezel monitor cart appears to have been completely replaced with a new single large monitor. All the brass-colored trim around these areas has also been replaced with silver coloring to match the rest of the look of the set.

The old weather set has been completely overhauled with a new 3x3 monitor wall stand up location.

The floor also looks to have been refinished with epoxy, replacing the tiles that have been in there since the 1995 set went in.

No description available.

In addition, the old duratran areas on either side of the desk have been filled in with something that hides the LED strips behind it. Previously they had ripped out the duras but left the semi-frosted plexiglass in place, which had large seams that on certain shots would expose the LED light box strips.

EDIT: It appears this happened back at the end of April. There's a bunch of shows where the anchors are in different areas (one on a tight shot in front of the 2x2 monitor cart and another on the Morning Blend set, which is in the same studio)
