If CNN is so concerned about global warming , then why did they move to a location that's only 1 foot above sea level?

So Amusing.

Yeah but the building is elevated probably 20+ feet above sea level.  It is over a train yard after all.  I do wonder how safe it is if there was a big train crash or some terrorist attack underneath.

Isn’t that Jeff Zucker’s MO to do everything on the cheap? Gotta cut costs to keep his paycheck high.

One week after the Hudson Yards newsroom studio debuted, we have another new studio. Erin Burnett is using it right now.

(In the past, OutFront shared a studio with New Day, Cuomo Prime Time and At This Hour.)

That looks virtual to me - the reflections on the floor seem a bit off?

I also got the virtual vibe from it for a second but I'm pretty sure it's a physical set.

Interested to see how Cuomo Prime Time looks, assuming they use the same set. The bricks of the old set heavily inspired the graphics. Curious if they use a partial brick background on the screens or if they redo the graphics.

It was meant as a joke.  He makes a ton of money but they seem to constantly lay-off people.  And as for cheap they once bought a $160 desk from OfficeMax for a studio.

Is that true?

To be fair, Officemax has some pretty sweet executive desks...

Chris Cuomo was still at Columbus Circle tonight but will apparently move next week. Don Lemon's CNN Tonight is sharing the Erin Burnett studio.

I wonder how many more studios are left. New Day, Anderson Cooper 360 and Cuomo Prime Time are yet to move. I'm guessing 360 and CPT won't share a set because the broadcasts air consecutively, so it seems there are probably at least a couple left to debut.

There are five total studios, not sure if that includes the newsroom.

This second studio is fairly nice. Simple and looks like mostly video walls with graphics to change the look. I wonder if some sort of desk would go on that platform area at the base of the stairs.

I haven't seen any video clips yet so I may change my mind once I do, but in the stills with Erin Burnett the desk looks oddly tall. Optical illusion?

And as I was scrolling though the photos, it looked like those stairs were the epitome of "stairs leading to nowhere" until I saw the wide shot that showed the "workspace" up there. But the stairs still look like they just lead into a wall in many of the shots.

Would anyone put it past CNN to recreate the New Day/Cuomo studio at Hudson Yards?

I doubt they will recreate it.  I was once in that CNN Studio in NYC on a day trip.  I had a connection at the time who worked for CNN, now works for WaPo.

It was a nice studio.  Tried to find a pic or two I took of it.  Even with me behind the anchor desk.  Can’t find it.

That second studio (Burnett/Lemon) looks nice. I wonder if they can swap in different primary colors besides blue.

My understanding is that those stairs were originally supposed to rise to 3 stories in a "super news  deck"...

But the liability insurers insisted it be kept to one flight of stairs...

In case the anchor(s)...or a guest... decided to jump.

They should just leave Cuomo in the empty old space. He could still do his show there, it just wouldn’t have to be on TV anymore.

Just noticed this tweet from Kate Bolduan the other day that says the newsroom is just "my new temp home until the new studio is ready!"

Her show "At This Hour" didn't use the newsroom at Columbus Circle so I was a bit surprised to see it using the new Hudson Yards newsroom. This seems to make more sense.

Looks like New Day (and probably Cuomo Prime Time and maybe At This Hour) will still have brick studio! Had a feeling they might try to go with a similar look.

CNN seems to really like the screens on the floor.

Alisyn Camerota and John Berman debuting New Day's new studio. As mentioned earlier, this one looks familiar but is still very different. I'm guessing this one will be shared with Cuomo Prime Time and possibly At This Hour.

I was underwhelmed by their newsroom set so I'm impressed that they managed to pull off the other studios nicely.

Wow! This one's awesome. A much needed refresh of the old set -- which I loved.

Honestly, I'm glad the newsroom set came first, because while I really like it, these other sets are masterpieces in comparison. CNN has done it visually in my book.

I might be on the losing side of this but the New Day set is too busy for my eyes. Just like GMA, it needs to be toned down a bit. Bit other than that, it’s a nice new take on their old set!

*Sigh* I wish they built an updated version of this set instead. Crazy to think how they once were able to use the same studio in different ways for almost all New York-based shows.

Anderson Cooper is using his new studio tonight. Once again, it looks familiar as it uses similar graphics for the background as the previous studio (which was very small -- at least the part used on air), but also very different and modern.

Interestingly, the broadcast opened with some soft music playing as Anderson began. I don't believe 360 has used any sort of theme music in years. No open. No bumpers. Nothing.

(I'll update this post with more screenshots throughout the hour.)

CNN really likes those floor monitors.
