Looking at the DIRECTV guide, it looks like the new graphics may debut on Monday as the guide says "19 News at [insert time here]".

TitanTV listings have the change now as well with the morning newscast being rebranded as 19 News This Morning and the rest going by 19 News at (insert time)

Those gfx look hot for CBS 19 ...

But since it’s Flashback Friday ... let’s go to one of the best news promos ever.  Seriously.  Lol

BTW for those who can get such eargasm from the lit music played in the promo, here's the track:

And WJW as well? Although that may be asking for too much.

Nah. WJW is still gonna be #1 but I hope this new refreshed look along with a new feel in their news will help propel WOIO to a #2.

As long as Nexstar lets WJW be WJW, then they'll always reign supreme in Cleveland. With Tegna meddling into WKYC's affairs and WEWS just now getting out of its slump, WOIO has an opportunity to finally relive the glory days of Action News without all the infamy.

“We’re going back to the way it used to be,” said a source to FTVLive. “They are finally admitting that the Cleveland 19 News was a complete bust,” the source added.

Then again, we all knew Snoozefest 19 would fail from the start.

As dominant as WJW is, it desperately needs a fresh coat of paint.  The set has lasted longer than their former O&O counterparts along with the graphics which have largely survived through Local TV into Tribune...  It's a far cry from their best look, IMO, the 2002 Giant Octopus package with Arnold's Fusion.

I think if WJW ever changes, you're not going to have the riots in the streets that occurred when WPVI tweaked MCTYW.  If the ratings have held up despite all the retirements (cough cough Dick Goddard), a fresh coat of paint won't hurt them.

Back to WOIO....they have a chance to finally steal the thunder from 3 and 5 and show Cleveland (and the rest of the country) that Gray is serious about their largest market station and just covering the news in a nice package is going to go a lot further than all the gimmickry that Tegna (and Scripps to an extent) have resorted to....

Honestly surprised WJW never adopted the Tribune Fox graphics.

This and the OSI theme lasting this long is a cost saving move for sure.  Kind of like WKRG keeping the old Media General JDK theme as long as they did...

(Someone had a good quote about a station owner keeping something around forever...please chime in...)

Someone at Gray must have known that from day one.

In honor of the new logo and name, let's remember the last three-plus years of "Cleveland 19 News" on WOIO with this video:

Wouldn't it be funny if the station read a statement on the "Cleveland 19" ear saying "it was all a dream" like Dallas (and even Saturday Night Live) circa 1986?  😄

The "Cleveland" branding was the brainchild of the management that was around in 2015, and it never paid off.  The news music sounded too similar to what WEWS has been using, the logo and its color scheme reminded people of both the Golden State Warriors and University of Michigan Wolverines, and some of the new anchor teams were boring.  The new image seemed to have been built around a team, whose anchors once worked together at WKYC, but only appeared together on WOIO on two newscasts, while those who initially stayed from the "Action News" branding eventually leaving or reassigned to other slots.

There were also new morning and midday teams that never quite clicked with viewers, and didn't last very long.  Neither did some new reporter hires during those three-plus.

Hopefully, "19 News" with throwbacks to "Action News" can find success and get the station (and WUAB) competitive again.

Steve Kamer's the name. He's done some local news work, including KCAL; I believe he's also the voice of the YES Network too.

Ironic, considering it was TVbD that created WOIO/WUAB's "Cleveland Television News" look in 1995-96:

Oh man, I wish they had brought back that 19 typeface for a second life.

"CLEVELAND 19 NEWS" IS DEAD! Long live "19 News".

Edit: They're now using CBS Local instead of TITP.

So they're using the music package that they used before TITP that was only there for like a few months (or even weeks) in 2015?
