Both Griffin stations KWTV News 9 in OKC and KOTV News On 6 in Tulsa updated the graphics package they have been using and went back to the slogan “Oklahoma’s Own” replacing “On the scene, On the story” they gave sneak peaks of it on Facebook prior to Super Bowl.

Basically a refresh of the previous graphics package, but still looks pretty clean.

Also, KOTV mentioned that they now simulcast their morning show on KWTV. When did that start?

They don’t  simulcast on news 9 but there talk radio station in Tulsa that Griffin owns Talk 1170am simulcasts the 5am show which started in November/ December time frame I believe

Huh. I heard the anchors mention at the beginning of the 6:30 half-hour that they're simulcasting in OKC.

KOTV was simulcasting on KWTV for a few minutes this morning due to technical difficulties in OKC.

And they took a page out of Sinclair’s book and added the bar on the right to show weather and the time and temperature during the morning news

I'd like to think that the L-bar ticker more closely resembles the one used by WISH-TV. Oddly, the update removes the time/temp bug that had been appearing during midday and evening newscasts since the original iteration of the package was introduced in 2010, and the weather graphics did not appear to have been updated as it still features the Helvetica typeface and parallelogram thirds from the 2016 update.

WISH realized this was a terrible idea, and dropped it. 6 and 9 should do the same.

I think that eventually both stations weather graphics will get updated it actually took them a while to get the graphics they have now for weather on air when they switch it from that 2016 package

They had some technical difficulties during the 6am hour and they did simulcast the morning news with KOTV for a brief time but they were able to get back on the air before 6:30

One extra note: The breaking news ticker has switched from a right-to-left scroll to a flipper style. I saw it during News 9 This Morning earlier, when the ticker was showing a story on an officer-involved shooting at the Newcastle Casino. The format shows the information - including the standard end-of-story boilerplate paragraphs noting to viewers about news crews being at the scene and viewing additional information on the KWTV website and mobile app - in "pages," with each paragraph sliding left to right once that paragraph is finished being shown.

Also, with the new package, KWTV and, possibly, KWTV have started using a clean feed of its newscasts for news rebroadcasts aired on their News 9 Now and News on 6 Now subchannels, which omit the logo bug and tickers originally shown during the live newscasts. The news rebroadcast channels still feature the logo bugs and tickers during live simulcasts.
