Meggan Gray, fired by WLOX for defying a vaccine mandate, has just been hired by rival WXXV.

As much as the anti-vaccine crowd will be cheering, that would be a violation of the non-compete? That means WLOX and Gray Television have a case for a lawsuit?

She must have a very weak contract, and it may not have had a non-compete provision in it.

WLOX was basically the only news game in the Biloxi-Gulfport market until 2013, when WXXV finally re-started a full-time challenge to them.

For comparison, when Alan Sealls jumped from WKRG to WPMI, the off air period from the time he left WKRG and re-appeared on WPMI was only about 6 months.

I wonder whether Gray is enforcing the Non Competes for those they let go for not getting vaccinated.

Regardless of the circumstances, Morris is picking up released talent left and right.

Dave Staley, the longtime sports director of WTVC in Chattanooga who was let go in the Sinclair budget cuts, is now at WDEF as a reporter/anchor and it looks like he's been there since July.

These vaccine mandates (and economic hardship by his former employer in this case) probably play a role in diminishing the more restrictive covenants of one's contract.

With Dean Stephens hanging it up in SC Low Country, so is Dominique Sachse. Dominique is leaving Houston's KPRC Channel 2 (NBC) after 28 years

at the top-rated NBC station. Sachse will be singing off on October 29th at 6pm. No word on who will succeed Dominque in the evening newscasts.

Another one from KNBC is heading to KPRC-TV.  Daniella Guzman will return to KPRC and replace Dominique Sachse on KPRC's 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. newscasts.

Couple of updates out of Charlotte and WCNC:

Sarah French who has been filling in on the morning newscasts has been officially named co-anchor of the weekday morning and midday newscasts.

Carolyn Bruck who had been out on leave the past several months returns to the station today but this time as co-anchor of the 4 pm newscasts. No word on who succedes Sarah as co-anchor of the 5, 6 & 11 pm newscasts.

Also in Charlotte over at WSOC,
Demany Lewis and John Paul switch roles, with Demany Lewis taking Mornings, and John Paul taking Midday and 7pm. No word on the replacement of Brittney Johnson in the Mornings just yet.

My best bet on who will replace Sarah French in the evenings is Vanessa Ruffes. Vanessa anchors the 5:30 pm show and the nightside reporter.

Another one possibly bites the dust on vaccine mandates, this time at Hearst with Kelly Frey at WTAE. It is not 100% confirmed though.

We'll know if she becomes Wendy Bell's co-host on her daily radio show (yes, she's back on the radio...in Altoona and a wacky St. Louis translator trimulcast).

Vanessa Ruffes is likely going to be the permanent 5, 6, & 11 co-anchor

Yes Carolyn Bruck is back, after her 2nd extended leave of absence in several years. Not sure if it was for health or personal reasons,  or contract negotiations. But nevertheless she had developed a popular following, and had a good relationship and chemistry with coanchor Ben Thompson on the early show. Not sure why she was moved to evenings, but I guess it would be considered a promotion of sorts. I hope Sarah French remains on the morning news as she is a talented journalist and anchor, and has also developed a good rapport with Ben Thompson. Sarah was originally the evening anchor before moving to mornings to fill in for Carolyn. Now the flip flop may be permanent, as Vanessa Ruffes seems to be the new nighttime anchor.

WTMJ-TV's Vince Vitrano (Weekday AM anchor) will be going down the hall to WTMJ-AM to replace Gene Mueller as co-host of "Wisconsin's Morning News."

https://onmilwaukee.com/articles/vince-vitrano-move

WTMJ-TV and WTMJ-AM were previously co-owned by Journal Communications. WTMJ-TV is now owned by Scripps, while WTMJ-AM is owned by Good Karma Brands. Both are presently co-housed at "Radio City" on Capitol Drive in Milwaukee, but AM will be moving out mid-2022 to a new studio being built in downtown Milwaukee.
