With Miami now safe, and Boston 25 in a bit of an identity crisis, he'd be smart to tie any swap to a new agreement for WSVN. They're still the top FOX affiliate in the country, and FOX got burned once in Charlotte with an O&O - I'm sure they'd be happy with an upgrade in Boston.

Should FOX be waiting for Ansin to pass, would they actually want F O&Os in AFC East markets? The Patriots' dynasty could end as early as this weekend, and the Dolphins are several years away from contending. If FOX wants an O&O in the AFC East, they can try WUTV/WNYO, Sinclair dogs in Buffalo.

Without going full Speculatron, isn't WFXT's affiliation agreement tied to KOKI and WHBQ's?

Cox acquired WFXT in a trade with Fox for KTVU. I don't think they would want the Fox affiliation taken away.

The affiliation agreement for the two ends in June of this year, based on this biennial.

This is probably worthy of it's own thread but I'll post my thoughts here.

I think the possibilities does exist as far as a potential affiliation switch is concerned the biggest question mark may come down to this:

How dissatisfied is Fox right now with WFXT? Is the negotiations between Cox and Fox not going well in Boston?

Speculatron thread made.

Part of me sees this as Florida Man doing Florida Man things or Grandpa Simpson yelling at a cloud. The other half sees this as potentially catastrophic for Coxpollo. Adding in the ex-Northwest stations, Cox has Fox affiliates in nine other markets. Some of those markets might be a bit difficult to find stations in, The Delta (where Cox has a monopoly) and possibly Jacksonville (WJXT seems to be fine not pursuing a network) among them.

Dan Lampariello exits WGME for WBFF

Having known him since his days as an MBTA blogger back when he was a student at Suffolk, good to see a jump. One more gig from the inevitable gig back home (Boston).

KRQE is losing its "Chief"

Chief Meteorologist Mark Ronchetti has decided to leave the station.

In unrelated news, in addition to WMTW expanding its noon newscast to an hour and WSOC adding an hour-long 7:00 p.m. newscast on WAXN (all of which will be reported on my blog soon), the following is also happening or has happened (sorry if I'm creating a list here)...

  • WBRC Birmingham has expanded its Sunday morning news by an extra half-hour at 8:00 a.m. which then follows Full Court Press at 8:30 a.m.
  • KHOU Houston has quietly added an hour-long Sunday morning newscast at 7:00 a.m. anchored by Lauren Talarico and Meteorologist Addison Green.
  • WJLA Washington, D.C. has also quietly added a weekend morning newscast but its just a half-hour at 7:30 a.m. on Sundays with Kellye Lynn and Meteorologist Alex Liggitt.
  • Finally, WTAE Pittsburgh is planning to expand its weekday noon newscast to a full hour, following in WMTW's footsteps starting January 13th.

I was wondering when it was going to start since I seen a promo for it recently, so thanks!
