WJZY got new chief meteorologist, and the name is Brian Basham. He comes from WHBQ in Memphis.

Didn't see that one coming, although the writing was on the wall that he was probably going to be leaving WHBQ soon when they moved Joey Sulipeck back to weekday evenings and Brittani Dubose to weekday mornings.

KOVR seem to Copy The Way TNT Shows their graphics during NBA halftime shows at some point with its New 3D Camera Overlay Graphics.

Probably a tell-tell sign of a possible Time Warner-CBS Merger? We'll see about that one.

You guys are reaching big time if you think that photo means that CBS and TW are merging.

Another anchor is on the move. Michelle Marsh of Raleigh-Durham's WRAL is joining Washington DC's WJLA ABC 7. Marsh will anchor the 4:00PM Newscast

with Jonathan Elias and the 10:00PM News on NewsChannel 8 on 1/11/16. One note: Michelle's sister Rene works at CNN in DC.

The 4am weekday morning news trend is growing by the month...

And yet they STILL don't have an 11pm newscast....not since they were a CBS affiliate.

Even without an 11pm newscast, that should ensure WJW's status as having the most local news output per week of any station in North America.

(WJW even rebroadcasts the 10pm news TWICE - at 1am and 3am.)

Amy Speropoulos has jumped from morning reporter at WMC to "Local Memphis Live" host at WATN. This marks a return to anchoring for her and her third Memphis news station job.

Edit - looks like "Local Memphis Live" may be getting a new host(s?) because it's getting a new name, too:

And then they're are two CBS 11 Sports Anchors minus Guy Rawlings, because Rawlings is heading to Birmingham's WVTM to be the stations main anchor.

Guy's first night as anchor is in December.

He's going back to Hearst he used to be the Sports Director at WESH for a number of years till he left.

The bigger news (at least for me anyway since I lived in the market) is that in Market 200, there is now a competitor to the previous monopoly Sinclair-owned KTVO had on the Kirksville-Ottumwa market. Starting yesterday, American Spirit/Raycom-owned KYOU has a 7-minute long newscast at 9pm. Plans are to eventually expand it to a 30 minute long newscast in the next couple of weeks.

I am trying to get more details but it looks like that a portion of it (at least the weather part) will be based out of Cincinnati's WXIX.

The irony in all of this is that Raycom used to own their competitor KTVO until they sold it to Barrington back in 2006. Hence why KYOU is owned by American Spirit instead of Raycom itself.

Here is the new logo. If it's the standard Raycom production quality, that will probably force Sinclair to finally bring Curves and the new graphics to KTVO.

I never thought I'd see the day that KTVO would have a competitor but I guess with Iowa being such a political battleground state these days, a news operation in Iowa is too difficult to pass up.
