Stacey Bell is leaving Local TV, LLC-owned WJW in Cleveland, effective with tonight's (Wednesday's) 10 p.m. newscast; Bell has been with the Fox affiliate since 1998, as a reporter for the station's weekday morning newscast, before being promoted to 5 p.m. anchor in 2000, and 10 p.m. anchor five years later. Bell was raised in Arkansas (though was born in Memphis, Tennessee), eventually attending the University of Central Arkansas, where she earned a bachelor's degree in mass communications. It is unclear who will join Bill Martin as his co-anchor for the 10 p.m. newscast after Bell's departure, though The Plain Dealer reports that Tracy McCool is a potential candidate.

Newport Television's Salt Lake City ABC affiliate KTVX is making changes to its anchor lineup, as it tries to get out of its distant fourth place position in news, particularly among the area's late newscasts. The station has put Brent Hunsaker and Kylie Conway as its 10 p.m. anchor team; Conway, who had been anchoring the 9 p.m. newscast on KUCW, will no longer anchor the newscast as it will be cancelled following this Friday's (December 9) edition, due to low ratings (this leaves Fox affiliate KSTU with the only live primetime newscasts in the 9 p.m. slot in the market). December 9th will also be weeknight anchor Karen Carlson's last day with KTVX, Carlson is expecting her first child and will be returning to Los Angeles to become a stay-at-home mom. Anchor Robert Maxwell's contract was not renewed by the station. In addition, KTVX will expand its 4 p.m. newscast to one hour beginning January 9; the 5 p.m. newcast will be anchored by current "Good Morning Utah" anchor Don Hudson and former KXAS Dallas reporter Kim Fischer starting December 12; former KUSI San Diego anchor Dan Plante will take Hudson's place on "Good Morning Utah".

Steve Stadelman, weekday morning and 5 p.m. anchor at Nexstar Broadcasting's Rockford, Illinois ABC affiliate WTVO, has filed paperwork to run for state Senate in Illinois' 34th district. WTVO news director Kent Harrell confirmed to "Rockford Register Star" political editor Chuck Sweeny that Stadelman will be leaving the station.

Tribune station WGNO has laid off several people this week who are in front of and behind the cameras.

Most notable include anchor Jessica Holly, anchor/reporter Glynn Boyd (husband of WVUE anchor Nancy Parker), sports reporter/weekend anchor Kristina Pink and reporter Christian Jennings. Four photographers were also let go.

In addition, the New Orleans ABC affiliate has expanded it's 6 pm show "News With A Twist" - anchored by Susan Rosegen and KMEZ-FM morning DJ LeBron Joseph. It will also air at 5 pm. In addition, rebroadcasts of the show will replace all Saturday newscasts. In addition, the 6:30 pm newscast no longer exists. It has been replaced by "The Big Bang Theory".

News Director Rick Erbach said ratings and a tough ad market were key reasons the contraction and layoffs.

Jim Henderson is retiring as sports director at WWL after a nearly 34-year career covering Louisiana sports.

“All good things must come to an end, and for me, that’s my career here at Channel 4,” Henderson wrote in an email to WWL staff this week. “If the Saints go to the Super Bowl, I will make that my last assignment here. Otherwise it’s time to turn the page on the next chapter of life.”

Henderson plans to retire from WWL in February. He will continue as the radio play-by-play announcer for the Saints.

Henderson began his sportscasting career in Panama City, FL. After a stop in Atlanta, he joined the WWL in 1978. He has been the radio voice of the Saints since 1986.

In 2011, Henderson received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Press Club of New Orleans.

“I have the best job in the world, but, my responsibility is not to the coaches and players, but to the people who make sports special: the fans,” Henderson once remarked, ” and Louisiana sports fans are dedicated, they expect the best from everybody, from players to reporters.”

Roland Steadham is out as chief meteorologist atKTVX, after two years with the Salt Lake City ABC-affiliate.

KTVX news director Larry Perret confirmed Steadham’s exit to TVSpy today, but did not go into detail about what led to the move.

According to NewsBlues, which first reported the veteran meteorologist’s departure, KTVX is set to pay out the final three months of Steadham’s contract. Steadham joined KTVX in 2009 after serving as chief meteorologist at KUTV, Salt Lake City’s CBS-affiliate.

KTVX introduced AccuWeather veteran Jim Kosek as its new chief meteorologist.

Kosek has been with AccuWeather for the past 25 years, working out of the company’s State College headquarters.

KTVX news director Larry Perret sent an email out to staff this afternoon, announcing the hiring. Kosek’s first day at the station will be January 18th.

While with AccuWeather, Kosek delivered forecasts for a number of markets in the northeast, including New York, Philadelphia, and D.C. He also became known for his madcap delivery, especially when there was snow in the forecast, and there are dozens of videos on YouTube archiving his nuttier moments on-air.

Congrats and warm wishes go out to WFAA-TV's Cynthia Izzaguirre, who announced just moments ago (I'm currently watching News 8 Midday) that she is a mom-to-be. While doing a story promoing that on an upcoming Dr Oz show, people's most embarrassing health questions will be answered, Izzy said, regarding the Dr Oz Show's request that viewers email in question, that when it comes to one's health there is no question so embarrassing that it can't be asked. Izzy remarked that she's had to learn that herself, being that she is pregnant. Here's to wishing her the best as she starts her family.

WFRV is now branding as "Local 5". Yeah, I'm still scratching my head. They've changed music too [Arnold's "Locals Only", per NMSA], and some of the graphics got changed a little [not too drastic]. One good thing they've introduced is the "5-day Plus" forecast---apparently Nexstar-ese for "7-day forecast".

Next thing you know, Nexstar will probably convert them back to SD. :p
