Shocked they’re being her back. That was a high-profile, well-covered DWI with shocking video. Stations have dumped talent arrested for DWIs far less severe.

Not all of them-- Dave Ward of KTRK in the 90s had one such incident (he was also driving without a license), and while the brass of that Houston ABC O&O were upset at what he did, all they had him to do was to write an apology and have him deliver it on all three afternoon and evening newscasts (5, 6 and 10); I think the reason why they were seemingly more lenient with him than any other station would be with talent of shorter tenure is because he had been quite an asset to that Bayou City of Texas to that point (one of the longest-serving talent that any TV station has had where news is concerned), and the good thing about it is that it caused him to reflect on what he did and change his ways where booze was concerned (all this is how I read it in his Good Evening Friends memoir).

Seems as though there’s something foul in the air at THE NEWS STATION (WNEP) as a wave of departures have hit recently.

A few months back, popular meteorologist John Hickey abruptly left mid-contract to go into the private sector to continue doing work in weather, mentioning on a video podcast things were not going well behind the scenes and it was time to go.

Claire Alfree left to go to the TEGNA duopoly in Jacksonville in January.

This week it was announced reporter Amanda Eustice is leaving the station after 4 years. Meteorologist Valerie Smock left Montage Mountain to go work in downtown Wilkes-Barre at WBRE/WYOU. And whispers abound that at least 3 more departures are coming in the next few weeks.

You don’t typically see a whole lot of turnover at NEP, as you more often than not see folks there 10+ years at minimum.  It’s why the viewership is as rock solid as it’s been. But these past few months have been a whirlwind, and it really makes you wonder just how bad TEGNA has screwed this legacy station up.

Welcome to TEGNA -- They've screwed a slew of legacy stations over, including WTHR and WBNS to name a few...

Especially making them give up their legacy news titles (both were Eyewitness News before, and they are now 13 News and 10TV News respectively).

FWIW, WBNS dropped “Eyewitness News” around 2007, when its newscasts went HD.

More obvious is the exodus of well-known and experienced talent from these stations, plus a decline in production values.

Just looked that up on Scott Kimmell's site under "Old Newscast Titles," and that bears you out-- quite honestly though, never knew they had been 10TV News that long.

Oh they've been dropped Eyewitness News back in 2007, but WWL did dropped it under TEGNA but not WBNS-they were still family owned.

It’s certainly noticeable at WNEP as of late.  Plenty of stories from WPMT (Fox43) in York have been appearing on newscasts as of late, which have little to nothing to do with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre market.

Liam Martin has left WBZ Boston, to spend more time with his family and to go into a communications career.

That doesn’t sound like a career change allowing one to have more time with family…

Bumping this up-- personally, IMO, if WWL in the Big Easy was to no longer be EWN (saddened that that Big Easy CBS station was to no longer be/is no longer EWN), then I think a better name for that news would have been News 4 Louisiana, or even News 4 New Orleans [that latter one would have given WWL, seemingly, a sort of WNBC/Big Apple flavor, because News 4 New York has been a long-running news handle in the Big Apple, first from 1980-95, and then from 2008-now]).

Some upheaval at WKYC as Maureen Kyle leaves the morning show for a streaming show airing across TEGNA.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/news/maureen-kyle-leaving-wkyc-morning-show-to-focus-on-mom-squad/ar-BB1kL0on

Plus, three others have left WKYC in the last two weeks - Austin Love (after 6 years), Neil Fischer and Carmen Blackwell (both after 2 years.)

Seems WKYC is getting leaner after some major “anchor bloat” during the Adam Miller era…

wow, literally just mentioned his name this week when I asked which Anchorhead beat in Chuck Scarborough for the longest tenured record.

Another legend, Harry Smith is leaving NBC after 12 years! I grew up watching him on CBS' The Early Show.
