Syncbak has announced the planned rollout of Zeam, a relaunch/replacement of its local news streaming service VUit, which will offer live and on-demand news, sports and lifestyle programming, carrying over the latter's existing streaming deals with stations owned by groups like Gray, CBS News & Stations, News-Press & Gazette, Hearst and Morgan Murphy Media.

The marketing campaign for the (re)launch will include a commercial starring John Stamos that will air within local ad breaks during Super Bowl LVIII on about 100 of the CBS stations whose local content will be available on the service.

I don't think Alan Sealls is going to come back on TV anytime soon in the Mobile area, (unless he pulls a Jym Ganahl which is entirely possible) but he certainly raised some eyebrows with his latest appearance....

(Alan teaches Broadcast Meteorology at the University of South Alabama)

Speaking of WBNS, Tegna has appointed Rick Rogala as their GM, coming from WATN and WLMT in Memphis.

https://tvnewscheck.com/business/article/rick-rogala-named-gm-of-wbns-columbus/

Media General had hired him as the GM at WCMH during their ownership, I'm not sure if he lasted into the transition with Nexstar.  But prior to WCMH, he had worked for KARK under Nexstar.

KFSM Chief Meteorologist Matt Standridge has been "promoted" within TEGNA.  He hasn't revealed exactly what; he just mentions a "different office".  His last day is Wednesday, Feb 14.

Speculating - judging by recent Instagram follows, it is WTHR?

I know they lost Kelly Greene not that long ago... And I'm wondering if Chuck Lofton might be stepping back/away??

I mean I know Chuck is up there in age, but it doesn't seem like he has any intention of slowing down or stepping away. I'm assuming it's a replacement for Kelly Greene.

I remember Matt from his time at WKYC. He's a good meteorologist. If it is WTHR that he's going to, they're getting a good one.

Between Chuck, Angela, and Sean (don't know much about Chelsea) that's going to be one good team...

Well it's already a good team (at least IMO) but it'll be made even better if Matt is joining.

I've never understood why New Orleans on Fat Tuesday is more like Halloween while Mobile sticks with the more traditional "Mardi Gras" dress with masks, beads, feathers, etc.

Speaking of Mobile, WKRG did their traditional 9am to 5pm coverage, WALA ramped up their coverage from 7am all the way till 6:00 p.m. (they used to do 10-2), and WPMI, still ravaged from the Sinclair layoffs last year, did no coverage at all.

I wonder where John Cardenas is going?

WMBF sports director Dave Ackert was charged with public intoxication early Monday (February 12) outside of a Myrtle Beach area bar. Ackert reportedly entered the bar through the backdoor and ordered a beer; apparently after several beers, he was cut off from drinking any further by the establishment's owner, who took his beer away because Ackert was “highly intoxicated.”

Ackert was escorted out after threatening to kill the bar owners, but continued to threaten people outside. He refused rides home via an Uber called for him by the owner (Ackert refused to get in because he claimed the driver was an “assassin”), and by police, who brought Ackert to J. Reuben Long Detention Center, from where he was released later that morning.

WKYC's Hollie Strano made her first appearance on-air this morning since her drunk driving incident about 3 months ago:

She's been demoted to weekend mornings (plus Mondays and Tuesdays at 7PM).

Shocked they’re being her back. That was a high-profile, well-covered DWI with shocking video. Stations have dumped talent arrested for DWIs far less severe.
