Imagine this...a Sinclair station adding a morning newscast, replacing TND!

https://triblive.com/aande/movies-tv/tv-talk-morning-local-newscast-launches-on-wpgh-tv-next-week-fox-readies-grimsburg/

(spoiler alert:  It's WPGH and it's produced by WPXI.  Still, surprised that WPGH is playing along!)

Most likely, WPXI wants to keep up with KDKA and WPKD.  I'm sure Cox would gladly snatch up WPGH if they could

Better them than airing TND IMO. At least WPXI is local.

Feels more like an election year cash grab.

WISC-TV is apparently undergoing some changes.

Chief Meteorologist Gary Cannalte is retiring at the end of February after 33 Years. (Alex Harrington will take over as Chief Meteorologist in March)

Noon and 4pm Anchor Mark Koehn is "retiring" after 46 years (last day is Jan 12th)  ( special note that this was not entirely  his decision based off his post and On-Air announcement) .

Wow! I had no clue he left WFTS. It shows how much I watch either station. I watch WFLA and WTVT way too much.

Breezeline (the U.S. unit of Canadian pay-TV provider Cogeco) has dropped WBOC from its eastern Maryland systems.

According to both Breezeline and WBOC parent Draper Holdings, the removal resulted from it being considered an out-of-market station in the communities serviced by the provider (including towns like Grasonville, Kent Island, Chestertown, Centreville, Queenstown, Rock Hall, Church Hill, St. Michaels and Chesapeake City, MD), which are considered part of the Baltimore DMA. (As such, this isn't being put in the retrans dispute thread, since this doesn't qualify.)

This may suggest Paramount/CBS and Sinclair had requested Breezeline pull WBOC's main CBS channel and Fox subchannel in favor of giving WJZ and WBFF exclusivity in those areas.

Especially since the Baltimore stations thoroughly cover this part of Maryland in the local news… 🙄

Whatever happened to “significantly viewed” status?

After effects of the suspension from a year ago?  Either way, the least he needs to do in the meantime is change that Xwitter handle.

I"m curious...how many NBC affiliates (or station owners) opted not to show the pre-game special for the Miami/Kansas City game that's exclusively streaming on Peacock?

May have been isolated to Sinclair.  WPMI aired a 7pm CT newscast and WTOV aired one at 8 ET, pre-empting the special.

Here we go ... KRCR ... Northern California's legacy snoozefest ... now has three solo anchors for their evening newscasts.  Glenn Cassie has been added there.  So, one anchor from 5-6 that retires every few years and then comes back, one from 6:30-7, and then one that does 7/10/11.  Either they're prepping for a third retirement for the 5 anchor or they have money to spend.  A better idea would be to pair up and have traditional two anchor newscasts because the 6:30 person is very green.

I know this person wasn’t an on air talent but former KJRH Vice President and General Manager Amy Calvert has been hired by Sinclair as Vice President and GM of KOKH-TV in OKC hopefully she can help make the newscasts better for both KTUL and KOKH.

The only way they can make the newscasts better is by having each station serve their respective markets, not this consolidated nonsense.

Neal Barton is stepping down as KETK's evening anchor and news director after 20 years with the station (the longest of any of his gigs during his 42-year career). His last newscast will be on Friday, January 26.

IINM, Neal was the longest-serving anchor of any in KETK's history.

Another one leaving KTUL after only being at KTUL since the end of September Chief Meteorologist Chris Nunley is leaving for Salt Lake City and joining Scripps FOX13. News Channel 8 has had the opening for ktul since beginning of January and has had applicants but have not made an announcement or anything as of yet.
