Monica Matthews at WSB Radio tweets got her in trouble over WSB-TV anchor Jovita Moore.

Wow, picking fights with any of your colleagues is a bad move, especially someone as established and well-respected as Jovita Moore.

Sounds like WSB isn't losing much on the radio side.

Former WCVB/WFXT anchor Bianca de la Garza sued to recover $15 million in (allegedly) embezzled funds.

Somewhere David Wade is happy at the debacle he dodged.

Seriously her leaving WCVB was one of the more bizarre moves to happen in that market.

More news out of WALA.  News Director Scott Flannigan has been named to the same post at Meredith sister station KCTV in Kansas City.

I guess they'll have to hire someone in Mobile....oh wait, aren't they under a hiring freeze?

Then again, they bounced their GM to bring in someone else a few weeks back....

Prayers are going out to former New York and current Harrisburg, PA anchor Robb Hanrahan of CBS 21 (WHP) who had suffered a massive heart attack yesterday. He's recovering in the ICU after a second surgery. Thoughts are with The Hanrahan Family and Robb's colleagues at CBS 21, and prayers for a full recovery to Robb and to his family at this difficult time.

WFXT has cut down their hour-long 6PM weekend newscasts to a half-hour; the second half hour has been turned over to their "In Depth" series of prerecorded news specials. A similar cutback has hit the Sunday 10PM newscast.

Not good for WFXT. Fox is cutting back on its station when they have the most worthy stocks!!!

Chaos has abounded at O&Os so it's nice to have seen some new hires debut in the past week(s) on-air (albeit actually hired months before the economy is at now). Not conclusive, but in addition to Chelsea Edwards' hiring at KTTV (original post in LA forum), here's some updates:

  • Nicole Nielsen joined KTVT after graduating from OU last year.
  • Cierra Johnson joined KNTV from WBNS.
  • Allison Gargaro joined WOFL from KERO.
  • and Lauren Coronado, Danica McAdam (Lawrence), and Allison Ash all seem to be no longer just freelance at KNSD.

Meanwhile, and also inconclusive, the following (not seemingly mentioned before) have left:

  • Sandra Jones has left WVIT to return to Richmond, VA.
  • Liz Harrison retired from KFSN.
  • Cassy Arsenault left WBTS in May.
  • Gaby Rodriguez left KNSD in May.

I already feel like the likes of Denise Nakano, Dave Lopez, and Randy Paige were basically sort of "nudged out" of their seats, so to speak. Hope we won't see another sweeping slash a la CBS, even if/when a potential second wave wreaks more havoc on the economy.

Alanna Autler is leaving KTVT for law school at the University of Michigan.....https://twitter.com/alanna_autler/status/1275074969706225664

Autler is probably best known for an interview with a Tennessee election commissioner that went viral for all the wrong reasons (he called her a "b----" leading her to respond, "Wow! Do you want to say that again, Mr. Buchanan? Do not touch me. Do you want to say that again for the camera?") Four years later, the unedited interview and confrontation is STILL on WSMV's website.....https://www.wsmv.com/news/unedited-wsmv-interview-with-davidson-county-election-commission-chairman-ronald-buchanan/video_f189f525-fa38-523e-9695-3320a3aff86a.html

KPRC is moving “Houston Life,” its lifestyle show, to 3p weekdays starting Aug. 17. It had been airing at 1p. “Dr. Phil,” which had been airing at 3p, moves to 1p. The station claims ratings for the show have spiked during the coronavirus pandemic, with it beating all other Houston stations in its current timeslot. At 3p, it’ll be up against “Ellen” on KHOU, “Kelly Clarkson” on KRIV and local news/“Inside Edition” on KTRK.

That’s an odd time for Dr. Phil to air. Most NBC stations air Days of Our Lives at 1. Still got time to tinker. Maybe put Days at 1 and Phil at 2.

WKRC announces its "B" team:

https://local12.com/news/local/local-12-names-afternoon-co-anchors

Adam Clements had been pushing hard for a promotion, serving this role in an interim capacity after Brad Johansen left and when Kyle Inskeep took a 6-week leave of absence last year (after Rob Braun left the station).  He settled for a "breaking news anchor" role on Good Morning Cincinnati - so it's good to see him get a legit promotion.

Well, to my surprise, (and thanks to scrabbleship for the heads up on WMBB/WPGX) Nexstar stations WMBB and WDHN are now producing 1 hour primetime newscasts for Lockwood stations WPGX and WDFX, respectively.

For WPGX, this is the first 9pm newscast in a LONG time, going back at least 25 years.  Panama City was one of the few markets not to have a primetime newscast of any kind.

For WDFX, this replaces a news share from former sister station WSFA in Montgomery, who continued the arrangement until recently as WDFX had to be sold since Gray already owned WTVY in the Gray/Raycom merger.

As for other spinoff markets, WFXG in Augusta appears to be producing their own news still, after spinning off from former sister station WTOC in Savannah.

WTNZ is still having Tegna station WBIR produce their newscasts.

At one time, both WTNZ and WFXG relied on what are now also Nexstar stations, WATE in Knoxville, and WJBF in Augusta to produce their news.   WJBF stopped doing so when they entered into the SSA with WAGT under Media General, and WTNZ went with WATE under Young's ownership after their agreement with WVLT expired.  This lasted until 2011 when the current share with WBIR began.

If Lockwood is making it work in Augusta, I could see it continuing as is.  WATE (under Young & Media General) ended up producing WBXX's newscasts (under Lockwood's ownership) until Gray bought them and merged them with WVLT.

It is entirely possible WATE could be next in line if they choose not to renew with Tegna's WBIR.
